it's continuous movement of youth culture being less and les articulate and questionning about the world. Of the hippies and beatniks and punks were edgy utopians "dude weed", that's somehow part of the deal with teenage countercultures, but now we've reached a point where there isn't even that small amount of rebellion just for the sake of it. We've been fully molded into perfect consumers, even our popular culture now revolves solely around our purchasing habits
