The economy is so bad here it's literally impossible to get out of this state. I can't afford anything anywhere else. The price of my 3k sqft home in Mississippi is the price of a studio apartment anywhere else. I can't save up money for the life of me. I make 35k a year. Any other state and I would make double that. How do I get the fuck out? I could take a loan, but I kind of want to do this on my own merit.

Attached: MS.gif (317x489, 22K)

>any other state and I would make double that
painfully naive

mississippi is a 3rd world state

I wish I was just naive. I work in STEM. I'm a Systems Admin. Literally nowhere in the world besides Mississippi and Alabama pay Systems Admins 34k a year.

But you sound important. Paycheck vs title. I'm a maintenance technician. People think I'm a grease monkey at a car dealership or a janitor. I make over 100k a year.

I've done this exact same job for a consulting firm out of Atlanta GA and made 50k a year. That was before I even had a degree too. I know it's not me. The state just sucks.

MS makes Louisiana look like a white and rich ethno-paradise

I live on the border of MS/LA and can tell with 100% accuracy which cars in traffic are from MS and which from Louisiana/other. Sysadmins make 50k here, in case you were interested

wait people told me red state republicans states are all like heaven and everybody lives happily ever after

Got a lot of family in LA, but godamn do I want to just get 1000 miles away from here no matter which direction I go. My family from LA are all trailer park hicks, but godamn do they cook good food.

Apply for jobs in other states and just rent for awhile...

I live in New England and I have hired people from the south who probably moved here facing the same cost of living issues you're referring to

Depends if you're rich when you get here. You can pay 500,000 and live like a king in this state.

Come to Shreveport, Louisiana for a better life.

I feel ya, user. I feel uneasy even driving through MS to another state. Forget the feral nigs - there's just something "dying" about the entire place, like it's in a death bloom before finally dying off

No one told you that.
also
>1/3 black
>heaven
That ain't it.

Definitely contemplating it. Problem is I can't raise enough money to pay for my bills in this state AND move to another one. I can't save any fucking money. I've got to get a job that pays at least 10k a year more to afford it. I've done the book keeping for that plan already. Almost did it regardless. Damn near just up and left my house to foreclosure because I couldn't be fucked to stay here on minute longer.

You could just sell your house. It's evident you aren't happy there and long distance landlording is shit unless you use a third party to manage it for you, which hurts margins considerably. Since you have this weight, this is probably the better idea. You can stay where you are and still apply elsewhere or you can just move when you sell and more aggressively apply.

In any event I've waiting 5 weeks for someone to close their affairs out elsewhere and start for me as opposed to getting someone else in 2 weeks. If you're the right guy for a job, someone will be willing to give you such conditions to facilitate a move.

I make 100k and work remotely. Is MS paradise?

It's just a sea of eyes and teeth at night

37.59% feels like 97.59% in person, I think we're being lied to

Attached: sea.png (638x279, 10K)

There is nothing about Mississippi that could be considered Paradise. Everything we have could be found better elsewhere. Everything is CHEAP, sure. But that just means that so are everyone else in the state.

you make 35k a year, mortage is that of a studio apartment, and you can't save money?

stop smoking meth, redneck

i plan on buying land and building my compound in mississippi, where a dollar is still worth a dollar.

Working on it. But even if I sell my house I'm still not going to have enough to afford anything anywhere else. I owe 100k on my house and I could probably only sell it at 100k on the current market. So I'd just break even. This doesn't help me with the few thousand dollars I'd need to move. I'm living paycheck to paycheck.

My mortgage (by itself) is $800 a month. The electric bill because of this godamn heat is $300 a month. That's already half my monthly income.

Attached: God-02.jpg (400x330, 41K)

have you looked into working remote positions? i'm in CA and know a bunch of places looking to hire devs and other tech roles for contractor remote work

Is the land like, good quality? Arable? Beautiful? Definitely down to look into it if it's so cheap. That's all I care about right now.

What are the best cities in MS? Like, where I can get a gourmet/hipster coffee and see the hottest girls and such.

>What are the best cities in MS? Like, where I can get a gourmet/hipster coffee and see the hottest girls and such

This was surreal to read

Sorry dude, that's the way it is. I like $6 coffee (if it's done right), and I like pretty girls. What is hard to accept abtou this

Yeah, tried to get remote positions. I learned some surprising things. I went to college in Mississippi at 18. I learned what Mississippi considered "fundamental" for our infrastructure. Keep in mind Mississippi is JUST NOW getting fiber internet. So my knowledge of internet and IT infrastructure is outdated by about 15 years for anywhere else. I have very little knowledge about the types of things people in my exact same job market are working on in other states like California. Not that I couldn't learn them, mind you, but I sure am out of the loop on a lot of things because I've been focusing on working since I got out of college (trying to grow a career just in case of the worst case scenario) and wasn't even aware how outdated my knowlege and skillset are in the rest of the country.

Depends if you want to farm. Most of it is swamp. Best cities are Tupelo and things surrounding Jackson. You can't get Gourmet/Hipster coffee anywhere in Mississippi. It doesn't exist here.

The fact that you'll find any of that in MS

"Gourmet" coffee is what people call StarBucks here. No, I'm not joking. That is what comes to people's minds. There are no "fancy coffee shops."

That is most unfortunate about the equity. Still it's worth looking into. You could get a normal loan to cover a bedroom rental or a studio rental elsewhere to start off. Even in expensive states there are areas that are (relatively) cheaper to live in. They aren't awesome, but it's a good plan to get on your feet.

If you're desperate to save turn your central air off and use a window unit in your bedroom. You'll save a lot in electricity.

too fat to be

Yeah I've been thinking about the loan thing, but godamn I would rather not get ANOTHER loan. Parents raised me to fucking hate borrowing money.

When it comes to the central heat and air, it takes my entire central air to keep my house at 72 degrees here. It's almost 100 degrees on any day in the summer here.

>Everything is so cheap where I live
>I can't save up money for the life of me
2/10 try not to suck

>everything is so cheap
>get paid in kind
Yeah, hard to wrap your head around isn't it?

>$6 coffee
what the fuck, does this actually exist?? Please tell me this is a satire post

Isn't coffee in New York like $9?

My point is you could just let the rest of your house die. I lived in Florida and wanted to move and I did this to help. Every room other than my bedroom was unbearable, but it helped me escape. I just avoided the rest of my house.

As far as the loans go, if you're being smart they aren't the worst option. It isn't like credit card returns and if you're serious about it you can squeeze by with a small one.

I've been in your position. If you really want to make it work you can. It isn't fun or pretty, but have faith. I can't tell you how much happier I am to live where I do now.

Maybe if you get some fancy shit from Starbucks or some other hipster place. I usually get one for a buck from some random breakfast cart. You can get cheap shit in NYC too

Thanks. I'll look into it. Gonna try to convince my wife to do the "only air conditioning in our bedroom" thing.

>Systems Admin
What was the critieria to become a Systems Admin? I've been thinking about doing the same, but am still about a year away from acquire my IT degree. Meanwhile, I'm a Field Engineer at a major defense contracting company making about 54k yearly, so I can't complain too much. I'd just rather begin stepping up my career into something a bit more permanent if possible.

this

strategically-placed air conditioning shaved $100 off the monthly bill, get a decent-sized window unit

Paying to cool down unoccupied rooms during late night hours does not stand up to scrutiny, it is a free bleed

4+ Years of on-the-job.
Associates (at least) in IT
A+ and Network+ certifications at least.

Kek

>what is largentina

not satire. gourmet coffee is usually pricey, at least $4 at a place like La Columb in NYC. in PHX AZ, a slow drip cold brewed coffee, chilled in oak barrels, goes for $6.50. i find it to be worth the price, but im pretty spendy. should be pretty easy to make on your own if you got good beans and 1-200 to set up the cold brew.

the point is; if you have a town or city with a good coffee place, i find that indicative of a good place to set up shop. usually good coffee draws young people. cheap labor, intellectuals.

You only run a/c when you're home right? Might be a bonehead question, but figured I'd ask

Yeah. It's on automatic too. Just to make sure it turns off when it's not needed. Downside : my wife is home when I'm not and I'm home when she's not. So there's hardly any time when it's off, but when we go out to do something together, yeah. Someitmes it's off when I'm home too. For instance, it's off right now.

>slow drip cold brewed coffee, chilled in oak barrels, goes for $6.50

fucking metrosexuals. fag

yeah, so you're in a bit of a pickle then. without knowing your personal financial situation inside and out, my next recommendation would be to secure a loan with a low interest rate. $5k maybe. try and get a loan that you don't have to make any payments on for 6 - 12 months as well. tell the banker that you're wanting to move for higher pay and they'll probably work something out for you. and invest in chainlink

Them there backwerds south'ners got money for their negro ball. modern day plantation owners. Ole Miss spent $25,000,000 on renovating their mandingo field.
You are all cucks for allowing your universities to turn into shit.
Also, Ole Miss has a lot of frat bois with daddy's money.
Just go to Ole Miss and make connections in a frat, bro.

Attached: DINDUS.jpg (1200x800, 216K)

Oh...that's a good idea. Especially the "don't have to pay on it for a year." I could probably work on that. I'll be honest, I just wanted to make this thread to cope. I'm so close. I've got ~3k in savings, but I just need like 15. So I'm like...1/5th the way there. Just can't seem to get past 4k and it's frustrating. Shit keeps coming up. (cars breaking and etc.)

Attached: 250px-Amy_Wong.jpg (250x191, 17K)

I only live 1 hour away from Ole Miss, but I'm a bit too old to make connections with frats at this point. If this state put half as much money into infrastructure that they put into those damn university football games, we would have a much better state. No lie, the football stadiums in Mississippi are some of the best places in Mississippi. Kind of makes it obvious why people love Football here. They probably got taken to a game by their dad as as child and realized that it was the nicest place in the state.

>unironically google "mandingo field" to check it out
>realize it's a stereotype for nogs

kek

yeah, that sucks when shit breaks down. other suggestion is to make an ebay account, go around your house and list ANYTHING that you don't use and can fetch a dollar for. anything. craiglist too. i bet you have at least $500 worth of shit in your house that you can part ways with

Coffee culture is for fags but somehow liquor culture is for big strong men? Got it

>Coffee culture is for fags but somehow liquor culture is for big strong men? Got it

where the fuck did I say that you assuming faggot?

college towns user, ole miss has hottest girls in the southeast

Ok here's what I did. I got a job in Denver paying ~24 an hour, and then after I got the job I frantically found a shithole apartment to live in within the 2 weeks I had to make it up here. I threw everything I owned into the back of a Honda Civic and took off. After the 1st year you can look around for something better and hopefully have some furniture by then beyond the cheap shit you managed to bring with you. Ikea is your friend.

fuck mang you're living my dream
Wanna do the same but bum in Ft. Collins.
Do u like the snow? I'm from Texas and hate this heat.

Move to WI or MI. Don't go to a huge City, go to smaller areas.

Lol u fucking retard. Noone cares if you want a $6 coffee. Mississippi is nothing but cows and shotguns, save for a small strip on the coast, which is cows, shotguns, and casinos. The major cities are all crime-infested shitholes like Jackson or Meridian.

>nowhere in the world besides Mississippi and Alabama
Quit grouping your shithole state with Alabama. There are worlds of difference in tech opportunity between the two states.
In fact, moving to Alabama is the easiest solution to your problem.
Montgomery, Birmingham or Huntsville, all three are going to have way more to offer than anything in Mississippi. Defense contractor work out the ass, helthcare out the ass, South Eastern regional server in Montgomery has attracted an assload of tech businesses, and more are on the way.

Just work a part time job for a year, save up your money, and leave.

And if you don't like Alabama, look at South Carolina. They've revamped their old textile corridor with modern infrastructure and are attracting a lot of tech development there too.

Snow is fun for like 1 year. The weirdest thing about this area is that everyone drives drunk as piss and it's socially acceptable for some reason. Went to a work party at a bar downtown and watched everyone get so shitfaced they could barely talk, then just hop in their cars and drive home. I've watched people walk out of bars and drive into the side of the building. I've watched a cop following behind someone who was going out of their lane, and then he just turned off and left them alone. So yeah, watch out for drunk drivers up here. The state has an extremely high vehicle fatality rate.

Nobody said you can only work one job. Wait tables or bartend on the weekend.

Your state's biggest claim to fame is a football team. Alabama is like a snobby version of Mississippi when it's worse in almost every way.

>where I can get a gourmet/hipster coffee
Biloxi is probably the only place offering hipster coffee.

>system admin's should make 70k
only requirment for a system admin position is A+ cert. some look for a 2 year degree. most of these positions remote into users computers to fix problems or push updates. a system admin should make closer to 50k at most

>If this state put half as much money into infrastructure that they put into those damn university football games, we would have a much better state
But, you suck at football too. MS schools are literally the warmup bitches for Auburn and Alabama and LSU.

what's biloxi like? seems mega comfy

Attached: 7bae171a-5a9e-4036-b300-427866b488ee.f6.jpg (400x300, 19K)

>Alabama is like a snobby version of Mississippi when it's worse in almost every way.
That's just not true by any objective measure; nor is it true by the overwhelming majority of subjective measures.

>Get job as system admin anywhere else
>They pay you a higher wage
>Move out
Wow OP that was hard

That pic is the 1,000 yards of public beach squeezed in between the casinos. Biloxi is a strip of casinos ranging from cheap shitholes to kinda nice. It's a typical gambling town shithole outside of the casinos. Lot's of scuzzy casino employees. Shitloads of Vietnamese.

Mississippi is basically Africa

Oxford big dawg

Oxford.. university cuties, more than one hipster coffee/bars to hang out, Tesla’s and other luxury cars everywhere. Lots of old money here as well as new money because of the town economy being in such a boom rn

Good job putting the whole state in ur little box faggot

how dare you insult my beautiful state

try to look on the bright side user.
>most MS whites hate niggers
>basically no mexicans
>southern hospitality

Attached: 1518395840659.jpg (830x626, 84K)

its also full of niggers

I recently drove the entire length of i20 and you can easily tell how shitty mississpissy is. Fucking poor ass state compared to louisiana and texas. Texas by far is the nicest state probably top 3 in america. Also ms is so jesus centered its scary

Lots of mexicans

I'd be praying to Jesus too if I was surrounded by feral niggers selectively bred for strength

We're full thank you.

lol. I hope u dont live in the south. They are inescapable here
t. georgian

I go to a 7-11 in queens five days a week and pay one dollarydoo for a large coffee.

I've always looked at Mississippi/Alabama like Rhodesia/South Africa. Overwhelmingly black but the whites that call these places home are pretty tough and resourceful people.

Resourceful? Damn straight.

Buy UND, wait until it actually *does* become the United Nations Dollar. Sell at a 12,000% premium, or just buy things with it (including a house). The end.

also, stop blaming "the economy" for your shit decisions. See above.

>niggers
>rebels
kek. they don't even know.
