Imo only the first 2 times it felt like the "limitless pill". I was awake and got tons of stuff done. Every other time since it just feels like i've drank lots of coffee. But id does give a notch of more clarity, I give it that. Maybe the first few times were placebo? How does it affect you?
I also have some armodafinil. That just seems like a little stronger version of modafinil. Not much different.

It should be raising the ceiling on emergent thought. It doesn't really help much if you are staring at a written problem and trying to solve it. Where it shines is doing something like freestyle coding or architecting a creative writing project. When you do these kinds of activities you should be finding that it seems like these tasks are being done by someone with a greater sum of their life experiences available.
The only thing you might notice if you are still in school is that you're awake and you say "uh" less frequently. For old fags, it's the mental equivalent of never thinking "uh" while you have a decade or two of experience to draw on. It's like being a different person.
For trading, it's not going to do a lot. For drafting a new trading strategy that guides you while you aren't on it, it might.

had some friends use it to cram for exams, its like the next gimmick after nootropics, of stacking bullshit chemicals into your body out of a procrastination to actually put in hard work.
There is no substitute for hard work and commitment, if your trying to learn a skill or somesuch, the days when you work the hardest and get nowhere are the most valuable, because you put the fucking work in.
I almost think of it like leveling in elder scrolls or something, the more time and energy you put into something, no matter how slow your progress, you will eventually, level up.
I've tried to use them for trading, but they're pretty much worthless for it. They're great for the gym, interacting with people, reading books, doing math, and they can even just make you feel "good" overall, stuff like that. Trading though is more about patience and emotional management. It's not being bored while you wait for things to set up.
And that's where stuff like Adderall and Modafinil can work against you because trading sometimes needs to be boring. If you're carving up charts and going schizo mode looking at the price action so you can manufacture a trade, you're probably not going to get good results.
Trading is also about making sure you have a good simple plan on a trade, following that plan, and being mostly unaffected if it doesn't work. That doesn't mean you should be like the Terminator and obliterate your account in a day because you don't feel pain and simplicity is key. That's where anything that dampens your emotional reaction or causes you to invent convoluted strategies ends up costing you.
It's being able to recognize if you ARE affected by the trade and giving yourself a couple minutes before going back in to search for more setups. That's why things that alter your perceptions drastically from a baseline can actually throw you off. It's being able to think about money only as a performance metric of the trade, nothing else. None of that "woah, I just lost a vacation to Vegas on that trade". And so on and so on.
I think the more complex and adaptive the system you're trying to play in or against gets, the less those performance enhancers do for you. I could be totally wrong though and maybe I just never utilized them correctly. Different stuff works for different people and there's nothing wrong in experimenting to see if it can provide you with some edge wherever you want to apply it.
my man, so you say going to the gym its good for, I really struggle with energy levels, some weeks I have plenty, others absolutely none.
As a result I cant seem to stick to a strict regime of just x3 times a week to the gym, it varies greatly, some weeks I swim and gym almost every day, others I just wont go at all.

Your energy levels are tied to your sleep patterns, exercise, and eating habits.
Eat low GI foods to avoid crashes in energy levels, have a consistent sleep schedule w/ plenty of sleep, run early in the mornings, etc..

How consistently are you or were you taking Modafinil? It's likely you've developed a tolerance against Modafinil if you took them 3 days in a row.

For the gym I've definitely wondered at times like "ehh...I wonder if this is banned in professional sports..." because for me it really just let's me keep going. You just feel like you can do more sets, more exercises, you just keep going. It doesn't make you stronger directly though obviously.
It's different from caffeine in that it doesn't feel like I'm "stimulated." It's much more subtle. I didn't take a ton of it so maybe at higher doses you get different effects, but if you have any "fog of fatigue" let's call it, that dissipates. You don't get turbocharged though like a cokehead like some people on stimulants do.
Comedown for me was pretty much you just get really tired and you should probably go to sleep. I didn't find it addictive. I didn't have any withdrawal from it like headaches or anything. At least nothing that I noticed. For me it was and is always about good ACTUAL sleep. No substitute for that. I guess I could see how some people might be like "I'm a superhuman bro, I just get 3 hours of sleep, pop modafinil and get shit done!" The trade off doing that isn't there for me personally.
Tried it, fucking hated it. It kept me awake, but did nothing for my concentration or energy, so I was just awake (and wishing I weren't) and exhausted. I also started getting rashes, worrying given the risk of SJS which can be fatal.
I took these for a while and at some point multiple week. Now I have to shit like 6 times a day. It's getting really annoying and everyone at the office is wondering why I go to the toilet so much.

Armodafinil is much better, because it is only R-Modafinil. There is also S-Modafinil with like 4h effects, but you can only try to get that via trustworthy chinese lab (so no chance for normal people).
