Turning down a 90k job offer

I currently work a hectic schedule, often 70-80 hour weeks, traveling all over the world. I will make around 110k this year at 29 years old.

I applied to a normal 9-5 job in a very related field, highly technical. I put 110k MINIMUM (in all caps) on my application. They double check that this is my salary requirement before flying me in for an interview (company paid over 1k for my interview)

I get the written offer today, I’m super stoked to have a normal job.... I open the offer. 90k USD. Like why the fuck did they waste my time and theirs when I made my requirements known. How do I even respond to this. I called them and they said “we hope that the non monetary benefits of a normal job makes you decide to come work for us” and that they did an “asset evaluation” and “cant pay me more than other employees with more experience”

Then why the fuck did they waste my time and their money? Why even bother when I made my salary requirements clear. How do I respond to this situation, /biz?

Press pause on your ego and ask yourself how much money your time is actually worth: if you’re trading 70-80 hours a week for a 40 hour a week gig, you would actually come out ahead at 90k.

I also get like 4 months out of the year off. At the end of the year, I only work an average of 40 hours a week, often less. Last year was 33 hours a week average and I made 115 I think. I also worked 13 hour night shifts for 23 days straight, so it all balances out

Mostly just because 1k is nothing and there is a chance you would take it

If this isn't a total larp you know any offer is meant to be countered. If you can't get what you want just walk away.

It wasn't a waste of their money. It was a bet, and they've probably got a decent ev on that bet. They only need to convince one in 20 people who list 110k as a requirement for that $1k bet to pay off, and the numbers may be even better in their favor if they snag somebody who is worth that much because it will increase their earnings. Sounds like you're a little slow user, good luck.

Fair enough, but is it something you want to keep doing? Can you maintain that sort of schedule indefinitely? Ultimately you know best, but these are questions I would ask myself were I in a similar situation.

It's just a business tactic. The first offer is usually a low ball. If they can pay you less because maybe you won't negotiate why wouldn't they? Just say you're making more at your current job as you already said and learn to negotiate. Read "Never Split the Difference" by Chris Voss.

Great book, has a whole chapter on salary negotiation as well

HRniggers are cancerous.

Guarantee that the boss wanted to pay you 1xx,000, but HR said “Based on our market profile analysis, AKKKSHUALLY user can only make xx,000.”.

The trick is to negotiate your current ‘bonus’ (hint - they don’t know what that is), and to negotiate goals/kpi’s Prior to joining (hint - this guarantees the salary that you want).

Also, maybe stop being a stupid entitled faggot and learn the game. Fucking brainlet sub100iqnigger.

you're paid 110 because you are on a salary working a hectic schedule. just decline the offer and see if they raise it.

You couldn't come up with a 1 sentence long big dick energy reply to try and counter more money? You're just going to bitch and moan on a Taiwanese turtle breeding forum?

Just don't bother responding. They'll just hire a pajeet that does just as good of a job as you for an even lower price.

user wtf do you do bc I want 100k/yr @ 23 going on 24. I don’t give a fuck about hectic weeks, I’d rather not IT wagecuck anymore

ask for a higher bonus you dumb nigger. they can probably net you at least 10k minimum more. companies would rather foot a higher bonus upfront. JUSTFUCKING ASK THEM and dont be a cuck and take the first goddamned offer.

THIS
I make 6 fig too, but 90k for a low stress job is way better.

if 110k is you minimum then stick to it user. they have invested their time and money into you and nobody wants you to walk away. tell them 90k is too low for you and you need to see them bring it up more. they'll probably offer to meet in the middle, if that works for you, go for it, otherwise just walk away.

Your a fucking stallion OP. Dont let em get you. You'll never run free again.

wierd flex but ok

Don't bend to shekelstein OP. It's your way or the highway.

>Just say you're making more at your current job
This. Let them know that it just isn't worth it if they're offering a salary that low
Also regarding this:
>"we hope that the non monetary benefits of a normal job makes you decide to come work for us" and that they did an "asset evaluation"
In your applications, replace MINIMUM for BASE SALARY because then there's absolutely no excuse for a company to offer less than $110k

40 hours a week at 90K >> 80 hours a week at 110K

OP is probably the biggest larping faggot nigger I've heard in a long time. Thinks that 80 hours a week and $100k is better than a 40 hour a week job and $90k.

Also can't even think to ask for a housing subsidy, travel subsidy, food vouchers, 401k match, or other creative ways to make up the $20k. Idiot nigger

They're working from a position of leverage in this situation. You're the cuck that wants a job that compensates you the same as your previous one without the same demands, you should be grateful for the offer.

fpbp. OP is a fucking brainlet literally 65 IQ

Nice quads

Nice analysis Daniel, more people need to think in EV terms
