Yes
/Thread

Why is it worth it

For medicine, science and law. Yes. Everything else. No

I would like to know to be honest

Less then before but still an advantage if it didnt take alot of debt to get it

its worth it if you do accounting, geology, law, doctor, engineering, computer science.
and even then accounting is not a sure thing.

Elaborate

Don’t worry we’ll get to the bottom of this

Why is accounting not a sure thing

Yes you stupid idiot, STEM

I know you fags hate this answer, but it depends.
I think everyone should take a year or two off before high school to wage slave before going to college. I'm one year way from getting my BA in economics and I know I made a lot of mistakes along the way. The biggest mistake was that I went straight into a 4-year program right after graduating high school. 17 year olds should not be making decisions like that. That being said, my degree isn't a total waste, I've enjoyed the experience, and I think I would've gone to college anyway. College should not be treated like vocational school but you shouldn't take on huge debt unless you pursue a path that you know will pay well later on.
What are you interested in studying?

Something having to do with money, is an economics degree profitable where you are?

it's worth the paper, but there is nothing in college that you couldn't learn by yourself, all the books/guides etc. are out there in libraries, stores or the internet.

see it more as a protection from others stealing your job, like a protection stamp. if you have that you are less likely to get replaced or loose your job to another competitor.

thats why even retarded low end jobs want qualifications and long experience periods, because there is not much to learn for those jobs, the just extend the experience time to give them an edge over other competitors.

meme

not anymore, no. once a domain of society becomes dominated by women, the diagnosis is terminal, no matter how long it takes. unless someone takes action to flush out the cancer. universities were institutions formed by men to focus and increase education and research. they were not test mills where people are trained to give a correct answer. that is how you know women have infiltrated and made it into a safe space where they can "excel". very few people even recognize modern universities for what they are, which are institutions running on fumes of the past and being increasingly weighed down by mediocre, fat, soft-headed women.

men should be elsewhere, creating new things.

Yes, because Apu went to school and studied finance.
I feel like Jow Forums is Jow Forumss backup board sometimes

Only go to college for what you can't learn from books

because theres so many accountants and you need a masters of accounting later on.

With connections, yes it can be profitable. I live in the U.S. It's a very employable degree but you won't get the same high starting salaries as the majority of STEM students. You should also consider what you want form college other than a job. In my view, a traditional college experience should do 5 main things
>not send a student into massive debt
>provide a specialized skillset/expertise in some field
>provide a good liberal arts foundation in philosophy, literature, a foreign language, art, and law/politics
>broaden your horizons, elevate your level of thought, whatever you want to call it
>prepare you for a career
You will have to actively work to get those 5 things out of your college experience and the second item on the list is difficult to get in most American colleges without pursuing graduate (also called postgraduate) studies. Make a list of affordable colleges, talk to some admissions counselors, think about your 4-6 year plan, and don't be afraid to ask questions.

This take time off if it doesn’t screw up financial aid. Be careful though, as much as I reccomend gap years you don’t want to earn so much that your finaid is reduced, or basically you will have waged just to have it to to the college.

Going to college a year or two older is a huge advantage, you come across as ballsy (most don’t take gap years) and you can be the mature freshman. Professors and other students will appreciate that you aren’t a crazy freshman.
Before going I read dale cargenies how to win friends and influence people, it really helped.
To be the life of the party you just have to let people talk about themselves while you take genuine interest in their life. Even if you don’t like the person, treat it as a learning experience, and they’ll like you more for asking questions.

Short answer: no
Long answer: nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Really the degree is all that matters and only if it is in STEM. I got my BS in Information Science which is some joke data science degree. I got lucky through an internship and now I'm an electrical engineer for a utility company.

short answer: yes
long answer: of course you fucking idiot.

I'm an aerospace engineer, want to know how to work in this field without a college education? You fucking can't.

"Oh yes user, you say here on your resume it took you 9 years to read books and do practice problems. Oh! you also did some experiments on the side? well then I can completely trust you are now an engineer of your own volition, congrats user here's a salary of 88k a year and a lead position on this missile defense proejct."

fucking idiot of course you need to go to college, you can learn dick on your own unless you literally want to do it all on your own.

Only for STEM degrees. Everything else is a worthless piece of paper.

Im 23 and i have a job at 40k right now with the railroad. I have potential to even get extra railroad education here. I havent done any college yet. What would you guys recommend me?

You buy 25000$ of bitcoin and ethereum 4-8 years ago

Vs

You spend 25000$ a year and get in debt to go become a slave

You tell me which person is happier now

Pretty low salary, is your work providing the education for free?

>Really the degree is all that matters
No it isn't. Prestige of the university matters a lot more. Someone who goes to Oxbridge for classics has more better opportunities than someone who studies something like biology at something not in the top 20 for example.

It would be free yes. I would be getting paid to get the education

Most people don't have the opportunity to go to a fag university unless you're a kike or shabbos got.

It’s very sad that this is the state of the world considering that college is nothing more than reading books and doing practice problems

Sounds like a good idea you will probably be paid more for completing plus you can work for other railroads that possibly pay more afterwards.

Yes

this is the only right answer. Also worth it for the pussy unless your an autist.

Most people don't go to university in the first place. The point is it's still a lie that it's just the degree matters. Degree doesn't matter that much unless it's specifically vocational (you aren't going to become a doctor without studying medicine). STEM is overrated for job opportunities as well and this blanket advice of just go for STEM is dumb. Only a few degree in STEM actually have half decent prospects and those that do are mostly exaggerated.

That is what i was thinking. Im still trying to figure out if what im doing is right. I know everyone my age around me doesnt have a salary anywhere near what i have, but i want to be successful. I want to make it one day.

I agree it's definitely over saturated. College should be a place that employers send their employees to for more training. As it is people go to college because it's what they are told to do after high school. Some of us get lucky I guess.

I'm 23 as well, making 70k, but I have student debt so you really aren't that far from me in comparison.

Got it, yea the student debt was a huge factor for not wanting to go to school, and i know i can get somewhere with this job. I wonder how far id be able to go if i dont get the education though. Im already the assistant manager all equipment for the company, but i worry i wont move up here.

Fuckign cringe. This is the definition of stockholm syndrome.
>I want to know how to work in a shitty job withou---
No, stop right fucking there. There is no such thing as a happy aerospace engineer. You are the most miserable person in this thread so far, and it shows by your posting style. You are trying to justify over 100k in debt to buy a glorified ticket to work at a job you hate. Congratulations, retard. You're a good little NPC, but you lose at life and you probably live a lifestyle of debt.

if you want to become a wagecuck, yes.

Turning college into a job factory is what ruined it in the first place, or at least it was part of the cause.

8 years of law school, 10 years in med school, phd in physics, etc ---> worth it if you dont go into too much debt

2 years at fuckface mcgee's college of art and design learning women's rights ----> not worth it

I feel like (((student loans))) are the problem too.

If you have to take out loans, no. Join the military and have them pay for it.

only for md or jd. else teach yourself.

t. bs and ms in computer science and unemployed

IMO college should be a place for learning and research. Technical schools should be for making engineers, code monkeys and the likes of that. Human resource, psychology and IT that employ roasties should be done in a high school specialization

trains are cool, I like trains very much

yes (((trains))) are cool

In order for it to mean something, you need to be busting your ass *during* school to get 2-3 internships minimum. It is very competitive these days, an education and experience by the time you graduate goes a LONG way. I graduated with 6 internships and had nice flexibility when looking for jobs, basically got one right out of school

ouch, a bit harsh user.

t. Retard, the man has a point. Aerospace I agree is gay, but engineering in general can get you a nice job sitting at a desk in a well ventilated area, talking shits and drinking coffee. It’s so easy but people here rather listen to other dumbasses. The key is to get into a program that will actually get you a job when you graduate. Don’t study biology like a retard, do engineering, accounting, ect ect. Also get internships before you graduate or your fucking useless, seriously this is bigger than your degree

what job do you do at 23 to earn 70k?
The amount of zoomers here claiming to be in the top 5% of earners out of education is laughable

This is some Grade-A cope. You may think while you're young and naive that you're going to be happy spending the rest of your life being a robot worker drone for someone who actually has their shit together, but when that person decides their profit margin is more important than your livelihood and lets you go, you'll realize how worthless it all was, and you will wish you were instead the guy who had his shit together calling all the shots.

He is a millennial, and that isn’t that crazy believe it or not

Don’t get me wrong, I’d rather be doing what I want with my life, but I’m not naive enough to think that it will fund itself. I wish I could stay home and smoke weed all day (is actually quite boring, work balances me).

And despite popular belief, not every company is anal. I work at a medium sized company, come in when I want, minimal contact, 8 hours minimum and OT if I want, can work from home if I want.. plus they just gave me an insane raise, it’s comfy and I cannot complain.

People are working for pennies, or spent their young life forced to be in an army (ect)... I can’t complain.. but don’t get me wrong, I won’t be doing this bs when I make it.. and that will take time to reach, my life is set now just gotta show up to work and not do dumb shit

Absolutely not, wasting 4 to 12 years and upwards of a $100,000 can set you back for life. Smart people become entrepreneurs instead.

Well then godspeed user, do not get stuck letting someone else determine your livelihood. That's what employment is. A trap, jumping from job to the next, accepting lower and lower wages because you weren't expecting to be let go. Plan to get out of that while you're still young and able to do so.

Electrical Engineer

It's a scam.
>what about STE...

It's a scam.

It's worth it if you make it worth it.

Is 70k a good salary for your twenties? Let's say you can get into a trade that makes this kind of money with no student loans. Does that change anything?Serious question. My perception of yearly salaries had been distorted by this website where only 100k Chad's post

Anything requiring government mandated education/license. Otherwise it's just a piece of paper that says you got 65% or more of the questions right in the subject. I'm pretty sure the internet/Wikipedia made higher education obsolete except for the cultural implications.

It's adult day care but it's also required for decent paying job and it's not that expensive if you get good grades and/or go to a state school

help me biz i dont want to be poor forever
i graduated with a meme degree in (((biochemistry))) last year and have been crypto-NEETing since then
now it looks like crypto is dead and i only managed to trade up to $100k so I have to get a fucking job
how do i get a good job with this degree without going to grad school for 6 years? can i pivot to something profitable with a masters degree?
open to any suggestions, all i think about these days is neck rope

Attached: 1561254550059.jpg (596x650, 93K)

short btc

you'll thank me later

Biochemisty was my major and now i'm a dentist making six figures

This is the best answer here.
Specially this part:
>I think everyone should take a year or two off before high school to wage slave before going to college.
Unless you're 1000% sure of what you want to do then no one should go directly from high school to college. I fell for this meme and fucked up.

Yes for STEM degrees or if you are a people person who is really good networking with others and building contacts

If the degree program has a specific career track it can work out pretty well, like accounting or STEM.
The major issue is that employers have decided to off load the cost of training onto employees by requiring degrees for jobs that realistically can be learned by anyone. It is a free market after all.

Are online degree worth it or are they just memes?

no just put the moeny into $link and in 4 years youll have more than youll ever earn wagecucking
