Read point #7 - this says that Equifax will pay you up to $250 if you claim that you spent 10 hours working to protect yourself from their data breach. They will pay up to $500 if you claim you spent 20 hours working on it, but to claim more than 10 hours, you must provide documentation of some sort that supports your claim.
This means that most of us Jow Forumsnessmen could receive $250 FOR FREE just by filing a claim with no supporting documentation, if we are eligible.
Who else is with me on this? The Equifax checker says that my data was stolen, so I am going to fuck these fuckers over just like they fucked me.
Is there any reason I should take the identity theft monitoring instead? Was just thinking it might be nice since I was compromised. Credit karma or my bank might do it already I guess, but then I could just walk off with 250 bucks and the monitoring instead of 375 bucks
From reading the website, I think you can get $250 and the credit monitoring for free.
The credit monitoring is offered to everyone. The $250 is offered in addition to that, if you claim you spent 10 hours dealing with their data breach.
You can also claim that you already have credit monitoring, in which case they will give you up to $125.
So, you may in fact be able to get $125 plus $250.

I’ve never been involved in a class action before. I’ve seen it from Wells Fargo or whatever, but figured it wasn’t worth the hassle . Is it simple as file your info, and then wait a year or whatever for a check? Or are they going to contact you along the way to make you keep doing shit by certain deadlines?
