Holy hell, so I'm not the only one. I run survey crews, I have a skilled survey guy for each crew and a guy learning, plus 2-3 grunt work guys. Most of the grunt work guys are black or hispanic. They're getting $18/hr.
I have to leave to coordinate between crews and I'm not kidding every single fucking day I have at least one guy on a crew napping at work. It's hot, so they're allowed frequent (paid) breaks and we supply Gatorade, but there's no "hey, nobody's crawling your ass so go off and find a tree for a paid nap until someone comes looking."
100% of the time it's the black dudes. Hispanic guys work their asses off and then stretch out for a break, take their shoes off, everything, but they're back snappy when 15 minutes is up. Meanwhile, no one has seen Tyrone who said he needed to take a piss but found some literal camo hole between two trees 100 yards into the woods to take a fucking nap.
Of course, they'll also sleep right in the fucking truck, fall asleep while a guy 100 yards away is setting up to shoot measurements and that guy has to walk over and wake them up to finish, etc.

Ohhh user, I'm here with you. So yeah, I have a crew of about ~30 dudes on forklifts unloading, sorting, and loading freight of all kinds(FAK). Like you, it's hot, hard work with frequent breaks. I'd say there's lots of energy, but no real pressure. We share some office space with another company that used to occupy the building we're in. In my 6 months as manager I've fired 3 niggers for sneaking in the offices and sleeping. This is just in the offices, not including the 4 additional niggers I've fired for sleeping on forklifts in trailers or just in an obscure area of our warehouse. It's a widespread phenomenon.
