absolutely, I live in a poor redneck rural area and I know several people who won big settlements of like $250k - $500k. every single one of them had it blown in no time on stupid shit.

I have seen 2 studies that looked at people who got >$1MM windfalls, and in both about 70% of the people had lost all of the money within 5 years. That isn’t because 70% of people are just financially illiterate, it is because the world very quickly aligns to drain them. Whether that is shady investment advice, hard sells of bling, greedy relatives, hubris, or whatever, the idea that only normies would fall prey to it is absurd. And by the way about 85% of people studied said their lives were worse after the money than before. Other than that you are hard pressed to spend over $50-80 on a meal in a Japan outside of paying for prestige and not food.
