0.1 link per job. That’s 0.1 link to retrieve reliable market data for a basic smart contract via the alpha vantage API. Is this a preliminary trial pricing? I can't find anything in the white paper about call scaling, I know link is divisible to 18 decimals - just trying to wrap my head around this because functionally, .1 link per call only works if the token remains relatively cheap, even at current value 0.1 link per call is pushing it in terms of affordability AT SCALE.
Are there any brains left here to explain how this is going to play out?
basically it will be dynamic in the future, node operators can ask to be paid in USD, and the SC will convert that amount to link on request

This retort makes me snug as a pajeet in a street.

wait this actually doesn't address the question of why it is set at .1 link per call and how this will adjust/scale in the future? Dynamic based on what? I'm assuming it should scale to the size of the network, ie, more nodes = cheaper calls? But I'm looking for some official/tech documentation on this because I really don't know, guess I should head to telegram

you literally answered your own question how fucking dumb are you

Also this
market.link/fees
Jaxon Hall
imagine thinking that the fee absolutely has to be 0.1 LINK specifically for some reason
what a FUCKING RETARD OP WOW
jk
Matthew Morgan
it you be a free market, you'll be able to set the price to 0.000000000000000001 LINK or whatever
rory has said this
Michael Sanders
It'll be a market. Prices will fluctuate depending non supply and demand. Don't worry about it. ALSO, comparing a regular api call to a LINK call is not fair. LINK calls do so much more by pushing the data into a blockchain and oracles currently exist with much less supply than a simple data API.
Nolan Williams
What do you mean? They'll literally just change the LINK amount to be equivalent to whatever USD value they want depending on LINK's price. The network still isn't complete and they'll most likely only display the USD cost in the future while the transactions use LINK in the background
Noah Price
>why it is set at .1 link per call Because its a nice round number. Fuck sake user it's not complicated and it doesn't mean anything. If you have a more accurate pricing feel free to make your own node and offer it.
Asher Allen
It's one of the many reasons why nobody is going to use this. The actual data api prices are in the vicinity of $0.0005 per call. Imagine you're making a new dapp and you need a new price every 15 minutes. These retards think somebody is going to shell ~$570/month.

Link is a scam

Hey tranny go dilate while repeating this mantra to yourself
"Chainlink has 18 decimal places and node operators can set their call price"
"Chainlink has 18 decimal places and node operators can set their call price"
"Chainlink has 18 decimal places and node operators can set their call price"
"Chainlink has 18 decimal places and node operators can set their call price"
"Chainlink has 18 decimal places and node operators can set their call price"
"Chainlink has 18 decimal places and node operators can set their call price"

chainlink being above $1 defeats the purpose of the coin.
Matthew Morales
What's your point? 0.20 USD is quite a competitive price for feeding data into your smart contract in a decentralized manner. In the future there will be contracts that will facilitate the LINK USD price, similar to the heartbeat, that will allow to adjust the LINK price of every service or request to an USD value automatically. The future is so bright
James Hughes
Wow if only threre was a competing marketplace that wasn't dogshit, imagine that boys what a trip that would be. Maybe they would even have released first. Wow that would be weird eh.
Chase Wood
Because after the singularity .0000 > 18 decimals 001 will have the same value as .1 LINK today.
