>“Our pre-owned business decreased 20.3% for the quarter,” former GameStop CFO Robert Lloyd said on an investor call in June. “We continue to see declines in pre-owned software, reflecting the softer demand for new physical games and the increasing popularity of the various digitally offered products.”
As an investor what are you supposed to do when you're flat out told the company is in the shitter?
They would be fine if they hadn't fucked up with all that cell phone bullshit that cost them almost a billion
Juan Rodriguez
Good. S on this shit company. Even people who don't play video games know this company blows ass and uses scummy practices to make more money.
Blake Ortiz
>brick and mortar shop >for games
LOL, imagine I start a brick and mortar movie stream place. Wtf are these people thinking.
Adrian Reed
This, I work for AAA publisher and we're already planning exit from retail. It's not even making much money for the publishers
Evan Nelson
They were probably thinking >how would people get stuff except from a physical storefront? >I remember going to the Radio Shack >lol the internet is a fad >kids these days love them games And various other thoughts like that I assume go on in boomer heads. I had one the other day ask me how his phones knows when he parks his car. LOL stupid boomer I’d have to explain how a computer even works in the first place before you could understand that.
Leo Rodriguez
Its over for video game outlets. There's no need for them anymore.
I can't tell you zoomies how exciting it was as a kid to go to the local video game store and rent out a SNES game for the weekend. Only the big video game brand stores survived the 00's but now it's over for them too.
Chase Collins
Malls in America are dying, people don’t even need to go outside to shop anymore. Worlds becoming really weird.
Luke Carter
I'll tell you exactly why gamestop is going under. If you go on youtube and type in "Ex gamestop employee's" You get a very real picture of a company that treats their employee's like absolute shit, who would encourage putting power cards on people's transactions when they don't speak English and various other shady shit. This has spread to the customers now through these ex employee's, gamestop is literally on their last leg and they deserve to be
Asher Wright
this is it, unironically, and not internet addicted zoomzoom's rationalisations itt about brick&mortar being dead modern retail has a place, and that place is selling an experience. pennypinching every customer and mistreating your workforce is the opposite of what you want to do
Jack Hughes
Get a job there and work your way up the ladder. Along the way, make sure that you're doing your best to be the best person you can be and pull your weight. Also make friends at work and become immersed in the company culture. As you climb the ladder you can share one idea at a time of your vision to make the company better. Surprise your boss when you go out and get a custom paint job and make your vehicle into a mobile promoter of the business
otherwise just short that shit
Evan Bailey
It's weird that game shops in Japan are still flourishing while in US it's dying, just like malls and arcades.
I don't think GameStop is sustainable with convenience of the internet.
Parker Myers
You can't compare Japan and the United States. One is a traditional ethnostate while the other is a diverse degenerate empire.
Lincoln Garcia
Foreigners come to Japan and spend big bucks for authentic Japanese merchandise.
Carter Johnson
This. Can't wait to see them go bankrupt
Brandon Miller
t. zoomer They existed long before you could just download a game you retard
Adrian Stewart
get with the times and invest in virtual game providers like steam. gamestop had the advantage of watching what netflix did to blockbuster and ignore it completely. they deserve whats coming to them
Jason Rodriguez
Malls are dying because they're full of roaming packs of violent and smelly "urban youths", not because people don't want to go out. New malls and outdoor malls are thriving because they are in affluent white areas and when niggs enter they immediately get tailed by security until they sneeze and are thrown out on their ass.
The media tries to blame the downfall of the mall on Amazon but it's really due to a decline in the middle class that allowed minorities to move into previously wealthy white suburbs where the malls were located. It's a story as old as time, niggs destroying everything they touch and people with money using it to stay away from them.
Samuel Wood
Blockbusters =/= a cinema Blockbusters =/= an arcade
Steam is privately held by Valve and probably worth more than the gaming divisions of Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo combined.
Zachary James
I wouldn't put a finger on ethnicity, but rather the culture of society. US doesn't seem to embrace the idea of cashless QR pay and relies on credit card while Far East Asian countries in general is slowly adapting to it.
Isaac Bennett
If arcades in the west had half the things that pic video related had when I visited Tokyo then I would have spent a lot more of my youth there. Tinder is the only game I played in Tokyo though as much as I enjoyed Metal Slug as a kid. youtube.com/watch?v=1XE8kDbc2HM

Europe is far more cashless than Japan and USA. HK, Taiwan and China? not so much. (Can't comment on Korea)
