Got a ticket for going 79mph on the interstate in New York which is complete horseshit and I'm pretty sure it was only because my plates were from Illinois. I was thinking of just taking the L but then I saw the minimum for the ticket is $180 and the maximum is $300+
Never gotten a ticket before and I was given a form I'm supposed to mail to the county and I'm given the option to plead guilty or not guilty.
Should I plead guilty and hope they give me a fine on the lower end (still close to $200) or fight my case? My drug dealer when I was in college got an out of state ticket and he had said he just kept delaying the court date because he was out of state and eventually it had been so long he somehow got out of it because no one cared or remembered the incident
use a ticketclinic type service and have them fight it for you
Brandon Lee
Any suggestions for one in new york? Do I have to show up in person?
Jackson Brown
not sure. im in cali and that's what people i know use. to my knowledge you can do everything online
Sebastian Brown
Were you on the I87? The one that goes to albany? I wouldnt fight it just pay the ticket and learn your lesson.
Jaxon Thomas
>nuyork

If you don't pay eventually they'll issue a summons and when you invariably ignore that they'll put out a warrant.
Cameron Garcia
yes you have to show up in person. so does the ticketing officer. this is why simply showing up will win you the case 9 times out of 10, cause the cop can't be bothered. if he's not there, you win. the only reason any of us pay the fine is because its usually harder to show up. also, you'll lose no matter what you say if the cop shows up and they will fine you heavier for wasting their time....
Alexander Rodriguez
just slow down next time nitro
Jonathan Thompson
Out of state has an option to appeal in writing instead of showing up.
Was living in Jew York, but still our if state residency. Typed it up couple sat photos and sent it in, heard back ticket was dropped.
Give that a shot or just don’t pay it and never go to New York again. I have unpaid parking tickets from the city I just never paid because I barely ever go there.
Alexander Wilson
it's not 1980 anymore dude. a warrant in New York is going to show up in any state he's in. they won't arrest him, but they will damn sure fuck with him and look for other reasons to give him shit every time he's stopped.
Owen Gonzalez
Possibly consider not breaking the law, at least not visibly.
Gavin Fisher
New York is pretty strict about speeding. Spent most of my life there, got a billion speeding tickets. Has nothing to do with your plates. Later moved to the south everybody drives 90 in a 60 and the cops don't pull anyone over. NYS dumps a shitload of money into their police force so there are cops everywhere, which means they can afford to take the time to pull you over for that, and will.
Xavier Peterson
fucking nazi-tier parking tickets as well I HATE NUYARK
Lucas Allen
$300 isn’t even that bad for a speeding ticket I live in California and all my tickets (going roughly the same speed as you) have been $450
Dylan Davis
Jajajajajaj get fucked ticket getting idiot
Cooper Howard
My boy fights the tickets all the time and he finds that a lot of the time they will lower the fee. If you feel like wasting a day to save 80 bucks or something go for it.
Daniel Hughes
For what it's worth even if you fight it and win in court you'll still have to pay like $50 in court fees
Isaiah Jones
Well moving violations are also points. I once got a ticket for speeding in a residential area and saw the cop speed tarping so i knew i was fucked and I actually pulled up right behind him and he just gave me driving without a seatbelt because he didn't even have to move lol
Hudson Wood
Eh idk, depends how much you speed, i lived in nyc for years and always did above 10 or 20 on highways, you'll get fucked doing it on the streets though sure. In jersey I've never heard of anyone getting a ticket for going 80 in a 65mph zone tho
Brody Lewis
a lot of times the cop will show up because they get paid to be there. I live in a city so the cops are pretty chill about minor shit. One time a cop pulled me over looking for drunks realized i was sober and game me a ticket but said he wouldn't show up to the court date. City cops are bro tier. it's suburban and rural cops that are the pricks
Hudson Moore
That’s what you get FIB
Kevin Clark
States are starting to NOT renew your drivers license if you have anything outstanding and must be cleared/paid before you get renewed (this is a HUGE pain in the ass)...this includes parking tickets and out of state shit, especially unpaid ones that get a bench warrant. Niggers seem ok with driving no license but not me...
ticketclinic charges $100 and you usually still have to pay the full ticket price or more read the reviews for them online and youll see
Wyatt Williams
yeah cops with nothing better to do get power trips and are total fags they marked up so many people's records in highschool over bonfires and a 12 pack of beer or a couple grams of weed making it out to be they arrested a criminal while the kid has record for the rest of his life now
Joshua Martinez
If your not bullshiting... get a lawyer itll cost about 350 300 in that range. He will take care of it for you - youll get a phonecall day after court date saying its been dropped. They hardly prosecute out of state low level shit like this and your hired jew will know well enough to keep delaying until its tossed... so the state hardly will persue it.
Always hire a lawyer, seriously. Its 100% worth it. I have a clean record because of it
Nathan Campbell
Illinois does this a lot to out-of-staters, so it's satisfying to hear another state doing it to an Illinoiscuck. Fuck you
Easton Russell
City cops are THE WORST fuck you mean. Since they're all in one location they'll gang up on you too. You'll be talking to one cop and soon find 6 of them have you up against a wall
Alexander Carter
I don't have experience fighting tickets, but the advice I've heard is ask the court to reschedule the date on the ticket and pick some day close to a holiday weekend, like the Friday before memorial day. Cop is unlikely to show up.
Kayden Flores
some cities and smaller towns also have an option of paying double the fine and downgrading it to a non-moving violation so it doesn't go on your driving record. Double the fine is probably close to a lawyer fee though so play it by ear
Connor Stewart
yeah these are only good if you have multiple tickets and want to reduce points to a minimum type shit
Charles Parker
I cant state this enough.
This entire thread is filled with terrible advice and wrong information. Cops always showup they are paid too - and if they dont they will reschedule it unless. You know what to say to the judge >(dont "wave time" , explain you are prepared to proceed , if the cop has a written letter that he would not be able to be present that day etc etc )
Like trust me. Get a local lawyer, closer to the courthouse the better.. he or she is clearly there everyday and knows the judge and proc - probally hangsout with them too... they will see its out of state lisence and just pass the case like its no deal cuz its just a speeding ticket - youll spend just as much paying ticket after court fees as getting a lawyer... also you dont have to show up because he represents you
Stop listening to all other advice. Ive been around the block here too many times and im CDL driver.
Just hire the jew and forget about it
Bentley Carter
I've lived in the city all my life and every cop has been cool to me. They never cared if you were drunk as shit or high, as long as you weren't driving. Years ago one of my friends was underage and had a fake ID and a cop asked to see it just to see how good the quality was and gave it back after checking it out. I've never had any issues. Maybe you're a nigger though, in which case I totally get what you're saying
Tyler Parker
What happens if you just dont pay it?
Easton Brooks
Dont go back to NY for 8 years
Liam Russell
you are in a different state my dude, as long as you never plan on driving through NY again you can throw it all in the trash and not worry about it. However if you do that and drive through NY again you'll probably go to jail. I technically had my NY license revoked for not paying some stupid safety fine but I changed states so they forgot about it.
Christopher Green
What does FIB mean?
Noah Wood
Chicago. Hit 96 on Lake shore, got clocked, ticket and appear to court. Got lawyer ($1k), ticket was dropped, given “supervision” for 6 months, basically don’t speed again or fuck up for 6 mo. Yes being white with a very expensive car and obviously successful in front of judge works wonders.
Jason Parker
No but I'm 5'6 so I suppose they see me as an easy target and a meal ticket, cause I have noticed that they back off of guys taller and bigger than them
Aiden Roberts
If you go in pereon they'll drop it. If you ticket clinic you pay the ticket plus $100 and get 0 points or traffic school.
Blake Barnes
Fucking Illinois Bastard (Wisconsin term)
Eli Campbell
Speeding? Here's what you do.
>Show up to court >Ask the police officer to show documentation that his radar toy was calibrated properly >They never do that because that requires enough intelligence to score above a 26 on the wonderlic test >"Your honor, the officer failed to calibrate his radar toy properly, causing it to read inaccurately" >Case dropped, gavel dropped
Joseph Long
>And then everyone claps
Lucas Harris
little bitch boy
Nolan Cruz
>tipped the judge too
Nicholas King
Some places in NY, especially on long island. (Amityville) its mandatory court appearance, but it's a scam. The court has lawyers in the back they refer you to, they plead down speeding to something like illegal parking to avoid points and you pay the lawyer like $1000.
Isaiah Green
I am literally you OP except I got 73mph in a 55mph POSTED WORK ZONE.
I literally don't know what to do....I'm going to get fucked no matter what.
