What is the best mining rig in 2019? CPU or GPU? Best token/coin to mine? I have access to free electricity and $10,000 to blow on hardware. What do? I’m thinking all in 32 core AMD chips for RandomX vs. Mine ERC-20s with traditional multi GPU setup vs. mine BTC with ASICS...Thoughts?

>access to free electricity
how?
I have an arrangement wherein I will use the electricity of a corporate office building that I do business in but do not pay utilities for. Lower wattage is preferable obviously. That’s why I’m thinking I might just buy a few EPYC 7601s and call it a day
Making money isn't really there I did it more to explore different technologies; that being said, ASIC's are usually bad all around because those hash boards will only produce that one algorithm. You should mess with a GPU and CPU software and make your decision based off of what seems like more of the type of thing you would want to support in the long run.
Eh there is a lot of miner FUD around. What Ive learned in crypto is that the Chad play is often the best, i.e. buy and hold btc. So the miner equivalent is probably just mine btc with asics....but this recent XMR RandomX thing has piqued my interest. If it launches as proposed does that mean hodlers of mega core CPUs will see superior profits ? I do like the versatility of a custom cpu or gpu miner though. I definitely agree with you there.
Since all markets have topped, big bois struggle where to put their capital and now there is crypto industry.
Heard the rumors that oil and energy companies are buying / establishing mining facilities behind the scenes. Seems like there is very little or no room at all for individuals to take part in this. You could look for bitcointalk mining branch and contact largest pools for consultation
Im not trying to make a living out of this. I would be happy to break even on a $10,000 set-up over 6 months.
its honestly not worth it if your not doing it full time with a huge set up, if its a hobby for you go ahead but itll take a while to even get that 10 grand back with only a couple asics
roi under 6 months isn't going to happen unless the coin you mine goes in value
I dont mind holding coins at a loss temporarily , even for over a year. I am a longterm crypto bull. I think we will see $1500+ eth again. How would you advise me knowing that?
Well then it depends a lot on hardware you can put your arms on. Could by ASICs, could be CPU/GPU from used servers off craigslist. I would indeed recommend you to visit specialized forums since traffic on /biz is shit and people here are mostly illiterate.
I could only say that I've been mining XMR on my home PC in standby mode, did it for fun to have hands on experience on how to tweak these programs to work with CPU/GPU at once, different mining pools, etc.
It's not hard, but if you have like 30 units to configure it will be decent headache to manage them. There are some exotic CPU models used for this which provide incredible numbers, but managing this facility will be very far from "passive income".
You'll need to hunt for some exotic CPU and memory chips, put things together, overclock them, take care of heat, noise, make sure electric circuits work fine and your rigs don't burn, manage software, network stuff, look for new miners update / algo switches, etc.
I mean if you have spare 10k you'll end up with huge headache and probably a lot of hardware which will be hard to sell if you will freak out and decide to quit.
If still you're interested go on and try to configure xmrstak on your home PC. Don't expect any cashouts since you'll probably need around month or so, but you will have an idea what mining is. And yea, before you do, you'll need a full node, it's around 100gb and will take like 70-90 hours to sync
Advise on which project to hodl? idk--- i'm sure ETH will do another pump and dump though
Let’s say you have unlimited electricity but no internet access, what do?
Mesh network through a cell tower?
GPU mining will probably give you the most flexibility and best ROI if you're up to date on coin launches. Like the other user said, ASICs will mine one algo which is very limiting. Mining GRIN/BEAM are probably the biggest GPU plays rn, considering the mimblewimble meme in 2020 will probably be the TPS meme of 2017/18
Put giant neon sign to make sure aliens would see and save us

I thought you needed a node connected to a modem to make the mesh network happen. Not sure how I would connect to a cell tower.
Not worth it at the moment. If you do wanna mine get 2 gpu miners (amd) to mine Monero.
Pre-order miners from china.
$250ish a pop 31THs
Free/ low cost electricity.
Break even in 2 months
Profit
Where and what kind? Sounds like bs
Whatsminer
>. etn
mfw you gotta just buy a btc

With what miner?
They cost 2k with 45 TH. Nice try
Anything with Lyra2v2 algo is god tier for mining on both cpu and gpu. I mine webchain and its so easy.
Brainlet ass nigga
Just buy a BTC honestly...
Its sure as fuck that btc is going to climb well above 10000.
By the time you roi in $ BTC might be well above 20000$
Mining only makes sense if you mine low dif coins to get ton of them and switch when diff goes up to something else. - amass huge amount of diff coins one is bound to pump.
Will it outperform btc no one knows
>/Mining/ in 2019
lol
k.
is mining profitable then? can you stack up some AMD RX 570s on a rig and make a net profit?
XMR / on epycs
only option long term
Clearly a scam. Nice try. They cost 2k
I want to start mining XMR, would it be viable to buy a laptop to have its sole purpose be a XMR full node/mining unit? Or is this a complete brainlet move. I am more in to learn about mining, but it could progress in to something larger.
Not worth it
ryzen 3600 + randomx
How much should I expect my initial cost to be to feasibly start mining XMR?
but its not out yet
>Best token/coin to mine?
Why not mine 0xbtc like the rest of India
He meant the older gen s9 and etc. They are being dumped right now for very cheap since they need 110J /TH
Are they worth it?
cool, an assertion without evidence involving india. thanks for this, user, this is a rare and valuable kind of insight here on biz
If you have nVidia cards this is a great way to go
whattomine .com
Only if you have less than 0.02 usd per kWh for power costs.
I've been cpu/gpu/asic mining since 2016. Mine bitcoin with bitmain asic or get 1660ti cards and mine on nicehash. Do not mine altcoin they will go to zero.
Also don't touch monero. Zcash is getting raped because it protects people from taxman. Government will come after monero too.
>Zcash is getting raped because it protects people from taxman. Government will come after monero too.
in other words, those are actual crypto
It's always better to work with men with guns instead of trying to oppose them
