the advantage is its half leveraged 0.5x so you dont have to worry about decay and total loss as much. If youre trying to do this 'day to day vix shit when the vix isnt at any particular extreme youre just going to lose money anyway so youre better off using this
Austin Myers
ok thanks. Huh... 1/2 leverage, interesting. I was trying to do the "yield curve inverted so expect the vix to moon" thing. TVIX was even higher, 19.70, on the morning of the 14th when we got that yield-curve panic and it spiked to 23-24.
Gavin Baker
The Top 25 on RH is kind of a meme portfolio. That said I do own most of the weedstocks other than CRON because of the huge upside right now.
I think they might have actually changed it to something like 10% leverage. its extremely slow but the point is If youre right you gain like 10%, and if youre wrong and the vix hits an extreme like 9/10/11, thats when you can add a quickie trade to tvix to make back free money quickly
Dylan Brooks
Can you help me figure out why today was so different? Is it because we already had a recent inversion, so people weren't as shocked, or is it because it only lasted for a moment, and I should've gotten out as soon as that moment was over?
That's a very cool strategy... I think I'd like to learn more about trading volatility.
huge upside? that what pot is going to be the next big thing, you expect what kind of upside exactly? I already can't smoke a cigarette in most public places. They're not allowed to even advertise cigarette brands. Alcohol is increasingly shunned? What ever there's long term profits in something that's still illegal and shunned upon by most. Like get fucking real and stop listening to pot heads.
Luke Peterson
Inversion is priced in. Also a gaggle of smallspecs bought shorted before Fomc (put call ratio something near 3) so they wouldnt be allowed to win anyway
You want huge upside, it's fucking AI, robotics, and cloud computing. Future of energy still underdevelopment, it's nucear, but such a cutthroat business, that everybody will fight tooth and nail for their piece, so there's plenty of plays to make around energy in general. The biggest thing to look at in energy is energy storage and battery technologies. Then of course you've got next big things in entertainment, property, but I dunno fucking weed is going to go through the roof and make you rich. You'd make more returns just selling the pot stocks and selling nickle bags your self.
Jonathan Brown
Damn, well the first inversion was the easiest money I ever made, if it really is priced in I guess I'll have to figure out the next wave to ride.
>a gaggle of smallspecs bought shorted before Fomc Is this suspicion, or does this show up in the orderbooks or something? COT still has everyone very neutral.
>Can you help me figure out why today was so different? Is it because we already had a recent inversion, so people weren't as shocked, or is it because it only lasted for a moment, and I should've gotten out as soon as that moment was over? Anything at this point is ex post facto rationalization. Trade, invest, and hold what is. The chart is what is. All else is distraction.
like look at a gallon of gasoline, it's fucking full of potential energy. That shit is just a form of battery. We've been making ethanol out of plants and shit for centuries in the form of alcohols, but damn some how that gasoline shit is still cheaper, even though they're just the same thing. There is so much energy the problem we have these days is while the technology exists to store an atomic bomb in every persons pocket that would power every device they'd ever use for their entire life... giving this technology to every person alive not only destroys markets, but it will be used for the worst crimes ever committed.
Cooper Lee
Cot didnt update this week, sometimes it just update until fridays/sundays for some reason even though its supposed to be tuesday
What crimes? Depriving shlomo shekelberg of his shekels?
Juan Wright
What the fuck is bitpay? Another crypto coin?
David Lewis
no it's more like having that kind of power in the wrong hands leads to blowing up half a city block and killing innocent people.
Joshua White
Yes brainlet, try to keep up
Jaxon Rivera
I'm not familiar with bitcoin but I'm going all in bonds right now.
Jeremiah Myers
Interesting, so because the P/C ratio was 2.31 on the 14th, it could still moon, but it was 2.87 today, so it couldn't, because most people who wanted put protection or to gamble on a put already had their puts bought?
But doesn't this mean people bought a lot of puts today? Shouldn't that increase the vix?
Charles Ross
i mean the technology has only got better. look at like the voyager project from the 70s, when we shot out this fucking probe. mother fucker's battery still going 50 years later.
Aiden Flores
Like look at this shit. From wikipedia As of August 21, 2019, Voyager 1 has 71.78% of the plutonium-238 that it had at launch. By 2050, it will have 56.5% left.
Noah Murphy
All that does is produce heat. And because the ability to turn heat into energy is so inefficient without a steam turbine the rtg's are just not a practical energy source even today.
Landon Wilson
no small spec shorts dont effect the vix unless theyre allowed to by the powers that be. They tried shorting into the meeting like a small ass spec and their contracts went into Morgans paper shredder
Cooper Myers
but there were enough puts to move the ratio, how do you know it was small specs (besides that they were bearish and didn't win)?
Benjamin Hill
Love the rant Baggie, your Lewis Black impersonations are getting better.
Weed has a huge upshot just from the legalization. After that it will be capitalism as normal as companies fight for the market.
Might as well ride the train and then dump the top.
Jonathan Morgan
consider target puts I sold my position today since it mooned today. No way this stock stays at 100
Jaxson Fisher
How long do you think it'll be till someone bright lad decides to try to upload his mind to a computer? Or put it another way create a device to allow it to be done.
I mean hell supposedly Musk is tinkering with some implant thing that will allow a cell phone to interface with your brain so it ain't that much of a leap.
Jonathan Jackson
PINS is on Fire! At this rate it may hit $40 by end of week.
Christian Morgan
because large specs would use futures and not like SPY etf
so you're telling me because I bought spy puts at lunch and the bogs saw that, they used "futures" just to fuck me?
Liam Stewart
Everyone who has ever held GALT post your returns right now.
Cooper Gonzalez
i think i had a 3% gainer or a -2% position in it like fucking galtboi has been here like a year holding that shit to rock bottom and dropping his trip acting like he's some one else and shit.... What ever have fucking fun with your biotech holdings I'ma go watch the yankees play on the west coast. These next 8 games probably will decide if the yankees can finish the season with more than 104 wins. if they go 5-3 i'll take it, and re-evaluate, 4-4 and it's almost totally over.
You know, I always thought local minor league baseball was far superior. It‘s an old boomer meme, but going out to an actual stadium with your family to eat hotdogs and shit was lowkey baller af when I was little.
Landon Martinez
yeah i know right, but the muslims want to kick our local minor league club out, and when i was a kid we got to see guys like derek jeter and roger clemens on minor league rehab assignments.
James Diaz
Wow, I thought Plutonium would have taken a lot longer to decay.
Elijah Williams
Considering the low part of the range the majority of dude weed charts are currently trading, they are likely playing the correct bet at this time. My one quibble is the popularity of the Canadian companies in comparison to the american. The states must go federally legal before any of the Canadian companies can gobble any market share (Canopy's option to buy Acreage Holdings, for example).
While you do have to either buy the US operators on the CSE, and take the forex hit, or buy them on OTC with the shitty volume, I still think they're the stronger play. The slow series of states going medically and recreationally legal gives the US companies an early advantage as they can gobble up market share and gain foothold without any international competition to worry about.
Navigators to Defenders. Then they left. Goats now.
Jaxon Johnson
they need to grapple with Henry's Antisemitism sure and learn from it, hopefully
F to 60
California to seismic event class 9
Jacob Stewart
>you're going to have multi-national corps swoop in and basically drive half the companies out of business.
So far the big boys are looking to do so via M&A (MO and STZ, PM hasn't made a play yet). Good for shareholders of the unaffiliated companies as there is possibility of juicy buyout premium. It's not a bad thing for investors so long as they're doing careful research to make sure the dudes weed they choose to hitch their wagon to are solid. Canntrust situation is a warning to all: there are shitty companies in this sector and you have to be careful.
Henry Ford was a good man. And you know something, he was right. I don't see any of those Twitter JIDF users giving a good reason as to *why* anti-semitism is bad.
Justin Turner
> buying Intel over AMD > in 2019
Intel might be worth buying again when they have actual counters against AMD's current, relentless onslaught, but solutions still might bel 2-3 years away minimum.
Mexico legalizes cocaine sort of // kind of // but not really yet. still some more red tape to cut through
it would be a great move by Mexico to legalize all drugs the cartels will still fight tooth and nail to hold their power for the next decade, but eventually it should make things better there.
I've been trying to warn people about the structural crab market for the entire year so far but this could change things. cocaine can take these markets to new places. the crab could be killed if broader cocaine usage is accepted and understood
SPY to 300. and get your SPX 4000 hats ready sooner than you think
Wasn't he one of the robber baron industrialists? I don't think he would've described himself as a "good man" but more of a "good businessman"
You must be a literal homosexual if you don't think that going ALL-IN with your entire portfolio on one company that has never produced a single product isn't a great idea.
Pretty sure back then hating jews was just like hating the irish immigrants or the german immigrants, or hating the blacks. You just hated everyone who wasn't like you and tried to fuck them over. Take a look at how Tom and Daisy viewed everyone in The Great Gatsby. You just hated anyone of lower birth too.
>Ford is worth a shit I loved my mustang, but even at $9 a share with a nice divvy and option writing potential... I'm not exactly chomping at the bit to buy ford.
Ford is .12% of VTSAX, and Toyota is 4.35% of EWJ, so I might actually own more Toyota than ford... I'd have to do the math.
Nothing in that post is wrong You have no idea what long term actually is
James White
We should just legalize drug use here to. The laws are a joke. People will still do it no mater how jacked up the laws get. Plus you'd get the additional incentive of more profit for the govt and more legal jobs for people. Also put a lot of criminals outta work and free up space in the prisons.
Sebastian Bell
>free up space in the prisons GET YOUR HANDS OFF OF MY GEO
Can't we get a cottage industry going with our slaves--I mean our wards, during their rehabilitation?
Dylan Adams
>Pretty sure back then hating jews was just like hating the irish immigrants or the german immigrants, or hating the blacks. You just hated everyone who wasn't like you and tried to fuck them over. I don't think people in the past were as hateful as you describe people tended to stick together with their own more often, but there is nothing wrong with that. people are more suited for tribal/small community life. humanity isn't evolved or suited for the current modern pretension that we are all part of one global, all-inclusive tribe
hell yeah right on dude I'm not some filthy druggie, I just think I should be able to buy whatever drugs I want without any hassle
Trump is getting more god complexy by the day. I'm scared he'll punk Powell into making shitty choices. I'm also scare about what will happen if he doesn't get reelected. Or if he does. I'm scared! Fear is the mind killer!!! (Send help)
Any updates on dems and healthcare? It's probably time to free up some cash so I can buy more MRK, UNH, and JNJ on the debate FUD.
MRK is hitting 52-week highs, but I really fucking don't want to take profits. Even though it's a good part of the S&P, so it'll still get crushed on any market pullbacks too.
Am I being a silly for not wanting to sell my winners?
What are your thoughts on Medtronic Pendy? Had some great growth and they were also shilling it on CNBC this afternoon. Might fuck around and buy some September calls or something.
Julian Clark
Hadn't heard of that particular stock until I googled it, honestly They're the world's largest medical device maker, so as a large cap stock they're obviously less volatile than smaller healthcare stocks like the ones I typically post about Medical devices are certainly a static demand and will likely only be in higher demand in the long run (aging and less healthy population) I'd say focus on the balance sheets and the company's position/growth relative to competitors in the area
Michael Clark
Awesome, I was also thinking it'd be a nice long term hold too since all the Boomers are reaching retirement age and will likely be expanding the market for these devices.
Why does everyone act like the shit is magic power? We don’t and will never have plutonium batteries. Shit just heats up a long time so we boil it. If everyone had nuclear phones and cars they’d be fucking steam powered lmao
1. you're trying to respond seriously to a baggiepost 2. the heat/energy conversion isn't even the largest problem, the radioactivity is the largest problem. Neutrons are just a bitch to shield, they are unstoppable bouncy little fuckers. even making a nuclear powered plane or a spaceship that has humans on it is an issue, unless it's massive. cell phones and cars, no way. shielding requirements are impossible
Connor Morris
Does anyone else ever get demotivated considering that retirement is far away yet you don't even have anything to spend your money on? I'm almost at 100k in my portfolio and while it feels like a sizeable chunk of money compared to the average person it's nothing in the grand scheme of things.
What do I do? 23 btw
Dominic Edwards
>What do I do?
Keep saving and investing If things go well you'll get to the point one day where you can live off of your savings/income from your investments and retire early if you want to
Robert Perry
Problem is that I'm very far away from that and yet I don't really do anything fun in my regular life. I've been considering taking a nice vacation or something maybe that will help "reset" me.
Alexander Bell
your post just sounds like general zoomer malaise instead of compartmentalizing your feelings of inferiority into nice little bins, you have let these feelings spread out across your entire spectrum. your psychic horizon is clouded, The modern American culture does not offer any ways to resolve this.
you need to go to central America and have an ayahuasca spirit journey
once you get back from that, continue buying quality stocks and ETFs and stop over-analyzing things. be confident, not neurotic, and you will be superior to 98% of other zoomers no matter what
Austin Hall
It's a vacation, what are you even investing for if it's not too enjoy things
Plus been gambling on freemont street all week, girlfriend wants to see some naked women's ( and who am I to say no)
Topless, I don't think bottomless? Idk, it's first show I've ever seen
