I'm thinking about getting a dog. What can I expect financially in order to support a dog? One of my biggest worries is unexpected medical expenses. I had two dogs growing up, but never really considered the financial aspect.

My other big concern is whether or not I can provide the necessary time investment. I work, go to school, and have to spend time in the lab doing research. I know I can provide enough exercise for a dog because I exercise daily already, so I'd just be bringing a companion on a normal day for me.

Recently got a puppy, really only have to pay for food and pet insurance if you want that (worth it for those unexpected bills), injections don't cost to much (at least not here in the UK) and don't fall for the dog toy meme, it'll be just as happy playing with a 2lt plastic bottle as it will a £15 rope toy

I’ve spent $4000+ on my Pomeranian. $1500 for the dog and $2500 on vet bills to keep her alive after a few incidents. Idiots who we bought our house from just threw rat poison cubes all over the yard. $800 for the blood transfusion alone.

Also I took off pet insurance which was $20/mo a month before this happened. I got fukt. If you get a puppy enjoy the chewing and shitting phase. Get a medium size 2yr old trained dog and you’ll be way happier. Puppies are cute for the first week until you clean your 10th shit pile.

Is this a comfy doggo thread?

Don't get one for fuck sake unless you already have kids or a woman you've been with for years. It's such a hassle. Atm you're supposed to focus on financial freedom and then family. Just try babysitting a small puppy for a week and see how it is. Nothing against dogs, it's just like having kids while being poor.

I have had 4 dogs they all ended up in the animal shelter and idc what you think about this

Very expensive and IMO unless you get a wolf looking breed like a German shepherd etc , they're not worth it

My dogs a pain in the ass, very needy and rips shit up and causes mayhem. Hes aesthetically pleasing though so I don't mind

Much like a pretty female, you'll put up with their shit because they look good

Bullshit, dogs prefer certain toys and textures. I've got loads of shit lying around my house and the dog always goes for the giant stuffed dog which is actually a child's toy

It's not a pit, those are weimeraners

Based dogs

yeah just let your dog eat little bits of plastic bottle. no big deal.

Depends on the dog, but hey if you want to go and spend fuck loads of money on toys for your dog go right ahead. Also note I was talking about puppies, they will bite anything that helps relieve their teething pain.

Once your dog is old enough and strong enough to rip a plastic bottle to pieces, it should have already settled enough to not need one anymore. I'm talking about buying lots of toys, not worth it imo but you do you famalam

Honestly it's a pain in the ass for the first few months, depending on the breed. Wait until you have more spare time on your hands

>£100 is a lot

Get a load of this poorfag

> Doesn't fall for the consumerism jew
> Must be a poorfag
You're talking shit on a Chinese dog eating forum, user. You ain't fooling anyone.

>buying a dog toy is falling for the consumerist Jew

Okay Jamal keep feeding your dog plastic bottles lmao

your poor pupper. cheaper toy multipacks exist.

She has toys don't get me wrong, just saying it can be easy to buy way to many that don't end up getting played with. You know, since I thought this was a financial board...

> Believing you have to buy hundreds of toys to keep your dog happy
You're the guy who got a Nintendo Switch off his wife's boyfriend for getting a vasectomy, aren't you?

wow this board has fallen low.

dear OP you need an income of half a million a year income

That's a woman's breed

Honestly bro if you don’t deal well with loss then I recommend not getting a dog. They will die and it will break your heart.
