I’m considering moving my link from CB to cold storage; but I’m too stupid to do it properly just yet. I know there is a process in creating and storing in an offline wallet, but I’m not competent just yet.
Are these things safe alternatives?

yes they are both safe if you get them new directly from the company. anyone saying otherwise is just making shit up for no good reason.
Memorizing your private key is the only secure way
Go with trezor because it's open source and you dont need to use (((google chrome))) to access wallet. Though either is fine, look up paper wallets and that's basically like a safer, more liquid version of a paper wallet.
You need Chrome for ledger? Wanted to get the X
>inb4 concussion lose all memory
>have to get hypnotherapy to remember words
>therapist steals your Bitcoin
If google has even touched any part of your wallet, China has full access
Then go with trezor instead of ledger, newfag
I don’t know OP. Windows did an update that ducked these things and when I tried to update the firmware on mine it wound up bricked so now I’m waiting for a replacement and it’s been over 3 weeks since the original shipment went back as return to sender and I had to open a support ticket to have them send the damn thing to me.
I’m pretty sure you are one dumb nigger. You would be correct if there was a 0% chance of ever forgetting the private key
i am a nice guy so just send em over to my trezor and i will keep em safe for you :^)

No, you can access through every browser. No idea what other user is thinking
>Dumb nigger
It's not difficult retard. And only a chance of forgetting if you are a retard
no you stupid cunt. this has been done to death. they are not good practice for cold storage (not cost efficient for secure redundancy) except for trezor with a strong 25th word (which is basically a strong passphrase) is kinda okay but it's questionable if it's worth it unless you actually want to use it.
why memorize it? you can post it on Jow Forums... or anywhere.
btw here is a quick rundown
trezor
-looks gay
+better security model (the way secret and decoy wallets work)
ledger
-not 100% opensource
+hardened against side channel attacks
>bring ledger with you to airport
>airport security sees it
>TSA beckons you over for interrogation
>"We believe you are funding illegal activity. Hand over your crypto or we'll do it for you"
Get the ledger X like you were thinking. Bluetooth connection to your mobile device is great. Don't worry about the loss or destruction of the ledger either. Your keys can be recovered the the 24 word passphrase at any time. Those 24 words are what you protect with lethal force if need be.
>Not locking away your assets in cold storage on two of these locked up in two waterproof faraday cases.
Not gonna make it.
travelling internationally many times this has never happened.
What do people like Sergey use for keeping the team wallets secure?
>I've driven cars without wearing a seat belt many times and a car accident has never happened.
are you seriously going to make the case that your memory or paper or metal whatever has zero risk?
Bip38 paper wallet. This user knows security.
Keeping your entire bank roll on a corruptible digital chink toy...yup smart
i like them. especially with bluetooth, touchscreen and fingerprint reader
>link
>I’m too stupid
checks out
>Bluetooth to your phone
>Safe
I'm smelling so much new here
ok explain a way to compromise the private keys using bluetooth as an attack vector
youtube.com
Here you go
Shawnteekwa the tsa agent doesnt know technology outside of her financed iphone xr so itll be ok.
so its fine.
>forgetting fire-proof shielding and the booby traps
Never going to make it
The problem is not making your private key inaccessible, but having a comfortable method to do transactions without having to be afraid of ranjeet and his keylogger.
Of course you can memorize your private key and then use it to sign transaction on your air gapped offline machine to achieve a similar effect.
Like if anyone would want to go thru the hassle of hacking you for $100
>Being smart enough to use crypto and being smart enough to use a hardware wallet
>Being so stupid that you would ever put yourself into any situation where the only security is the PIN number for your trezor.
You have a passphrase + seed to store your large holdings. Use just seed for your daily spending/travel.
A hardware wallet is great security against hacking/virus.
Just make sure you post your recovery seed here in case you forget it. Wait for the thread to archive and then bookmark the Waruso link. Also remember to lock your price in just in case crypto shots the bed again.
QRD on side channel attacks?

Teams use multisigs
He probably has the private keys scribbled on the inside of a Big Mac carton
>A hardware wallet is great security against hacking/virus.
at least it adds to your security against purely cyber attacks making it hard to impossible depending on how good the hw is exploit wise once you plug it into your pc usb port it's not technically air-gaped anymore theoretically a malware my take control over your device up to a point exploiting a software update mechanism or just some dev function left in production code. it's enough if it can display a different send address than what you had in mind or what's in the transaction or maybe alter your change address.
so long you actually use it frequently it may be worth to have it. but fucking hell for cold store it's still retarded.
measuring energy consumption or emitted radio waves for example may allow a passive eavesdropper to access information from a device not hardened against side channel attacks.
depends on how they implemented GATT.
being wireless means you dont need to have physical access to the device, just in the vicinity.
Yes they are safe and a good way to hold coins.
But holding link on them is like storing Venezuelan Bolivars in your safe deposit box.
might be able to mess with traffic in some ways, but still can't extract keys from the SE and if you verify destination addresses, there's no risk
where did the price locked in meme come from? are people actually stupid enough to think the price locks?
