Coding Bootcamps

Are they worth the money or is one just better off getting a CS degree? Do employers really hire code monkeys who have less than a year experience?

>is a 12 week course the same as learning computer science for years

Idk user let's think about his logically.

the answer is yes because your CS degree is full of lots of useless fluff.

>t. went to a 15k 3 month coding bootcamp and got a 100k a year job right after

Let's think about this objectively
One is a scam and its not the coding bootcamp, which teaches you "years of CS" in 12 weeks.
Wow you stupid fuck.

Sure you did and I got a job at NASA after reading /sci/ for a few hours a day for 3 months.
Yeah university is totally a scam, you should sign up for a bootcamp right now. Take out a high-interest loan too it won't matter when you get that extremely highpaying job in Silicon Valley right afterwards.

Or you can literally just teach yourself.

Not really equivalent things. Coding bootcamps are Vocational Education, being taught stuff intended to make you competent at doing a job. Universities aren't entirely focused on things like that.

fucking this, imagine being so cucked that you PAID someone to make you learn something you could learn on your own time on YouTube. idiocy at its finest

Where and what company did you take the bootcamp course with, if you don’t mind me asking.

You might still have trouble getting an entry level position after a bootcamp, but you're probably good enough to start freelancing on upwork and build up a profile as you look for full time employment. I personally just skip over resumes with bootcamps on them, but that doesn't mean that someone else will too (though maybe it would be a shittier company).
