when i bought my silver coins i looked up how you can test them at home, turns out silver coins have a very specific sound that can be identified by an app but also pretty distinct to the human ear.

no density is easily spoofed, the specific weight of metals can be achieved by a mixture of lesser metals. external dimensions and with plating chemical tests are also spoiled. x-ray only sees the top few microns, it can tell you the composition which can help with impurities that shouldn't be there and stuff, but ultimately useless against inserts.

specific sound tests however can not be fooled as far as science today goes.
