What major?
sad part is I went in state and joined the military (reserve)
21k in student loans
Turning 25 in a couple months.
60k in student debt
$22k income
can't afford to move out of parents'
Thinking about going back to school for a career in compsci/IT/Software Engineering
political science
>40k a year
28 year old with 0k a year here
Stop complaining
Just flee the country to a place where uncle sam cannot take your sheckles.
In the exact same boat
Have $10k liquid that I’m going to put down to get rid of the loans with higher interest and then make monthly payments for the next three years
yup
9k left on my car but the interest rate isn't terrible
Uh. I am going to go study now. You guys are scaring me.
Also, tell stories.
Major and ambitions are relevant.
Just go into a hard science, engineering, or IT and you're fine. Avoid liberal arts, business/econ, and vague-sounding majors.
>hard science
Not sure about this one. mathematicians and physicists end up doing stats/finance/IT.
Bio and chem majors...good luck without going into something like bio-stats with a phd. Seems to be mostly lab work topping out at $50,000 (but usually at 35k).
Business/econ are a joke precisely because the stats/math majors are getting hired by IBs.
But yea, you are generally right.
What about the anons that got cucked though?
Flip houses?
STEM majors are the only majors.
Don't fall for the sunk cost fallacy.
>Don't fall for the sunk cost fallacy.
You have to already have a degree to fall for it...
Again, you didn't address the concerns about Chem and Bio.
I also know physics phds who didn't get tenure or a wallstreet jobs and are fucked.
>compsci/IT/Software Engineering
Fuck off, we are full. Ride another flavor of the generation job.
>Be me
>Be 23
>Fell for the high school drop out meme
>Make $52,000 swinging a sledge hammer
I kind of deserve this.
save and invest your money and you'll be doing better than 80% of recent college grads
>You have to already have a degree to fall for it...
Sunk cost fallacy is what happens when you're halfway through an art degree and you decide, "oh, well I made it this far, might as well finish it."
>Again, you didn't address the concerns about Chem and Bio.
Of course, those majors are not meant for people looking for bachelor's degrees.
>I also know physics phds who didn't get tenure or a wallstreet jobs and are fucked.
study.com
Software Engineering is hiring people from outside of the IT sector. You guys are strapped for talent.
It's Cybersecurity. Everyone I know wants to go into Cybersecurity. I went to the bank the other day and the teller talked about how he was going to major in Cybersecurity.
I think it's a result of those commercials they had on 24/7 that made it seem like it was for "cyberwarriors"
>Fuck off, we are full. Ride another flavor of the generation job.
Keep dreaming. Every single failure from these threads and an IQ over 120 is going to be entering the market in the next 5 years (starting 2 years ago).
Every single city, even in the Midwest, now has an "accelerator" that big companies to go to for starting jobs.
Can you really, honestly say that you deliver double the value of what someone with 3 years experience and a lot of logic does?
Do your RegEx tricks, your knowledge of best practices, multiple languages, understanding of basic ML, knowledge of VIM, etc really matter to a company putting out LOB applications with a decent architect?
Shit's scary as fuck.
What user said. Also, dem gains. Just don't get hurt.
>Sunk cost fallacy is what happens when you're halfway through an art degree and you decide, "oh, well I made it this far, might as well finish it."
Yea, I will agree with that.
>Of course, those majors are not meant for people looking for bachelor's degrees.
I know a LOT of people who didn't understand that. Or worked in college and got lower GPAs and now they are SO fucked, because they can't get into college for a graduate degree.
The only reason it's "strapped for talent" is because salaries are competitive.
Yeah thats the plan, I've already got about $30,000 in stocks and a couple of thousand in meme coins. I'm frugal as fuck and I own all my assets instead of going for repayments.
good man
I believe deep down that we're all going to make it but this is the first birthday I've had where I was like "damn what the fuck happened"
Yeah its like that, I had that moment when I was 20. I owned my car, but I had like $2,000 in my bank account and I was like what the fuck happened. Thats when I pulled my head out of my ass and started grinding.
>23
>failed high school
>30k/y
>25k savings

>waiting to start welding course hoping to get a 40k job at workshop
We're all gonna make it somehow, just hang in there bro
What can a brainlet like me major in that is easy and good money? ;_; I know it’s asking a lot but I’m retarded...

I chuckled. I am so sorry for you user.

I got 124.
So basically enough to do whatever it is you want to do.
That test specifically is fairly well calibrated for fluid intelligence, though obviously it fails to measure crystallized intelligence.
>Thinking about going back to school for a career in compsci/IT/Software Engineering
so you got cucked by the college meme, and you want to go for round 2? Just get a few certs and diy. You literally do not need college for a job in IT.
Does 110 qualify kek
I'm And sadly those squiggly lines are nothing like the cave paintings I am used to, hope you're not disappoint with me.
>assets
But those are literally just digital illusions of wealth
I'm talking physical assets.
>outside the range this test is able to something something
Wow I'm Smart!
If the thread is still up I'll try again tomorrow, I remember having done a little bit better in the past and I'm at work so I can't quite focus as much as it said I should.
Got the same score, was talking to my gfs mom the entire time lol need to take it when I can focus
Yeah but business for example
I studied that AND CS
And i honestly believe EVERY cs major could easily do the tasks a business student can do and even partially automate them
So i feel CS and if you want to go into a trade electrician is the only long term job guarantee. Someone has to write this stuff the machines work with and someone has to repair them as well
35 years old here
40k debt
master's degree
32k a year
no degree and ballin with two cars
You can literally become an officer in the Military.
>negative networth
>but just got a new job
>53.5k a year and another 6.5k in stock options
>graduated a year ago
Life is getting better
OP I'm back
glad to see I'm somewhere in the middle of the bell curve
albeit towards the back
i'm super stoked at 105 IQ on the real. i was thinking around high 90's
teach me, some of those fucks made no sense
Yea, it does. Basically, you will just have to study more and won't enjoy your life as much because the higher-IQ chads can learn it quicker. But it's enough to do STEM.
I heard it put in an interesting way: You either work above the API layer, or below it. And if you work below it, you are fucked. Was kind of profound in its accuracy.
I would get tested professionally in your case. That is very, very impressive if its your first time taking it and you didn't cheat.
If you get tested professionally and it checks out, you have 0 excuse not to make it.
The id is that there is a bunch of patterns, and the problems near the end have 4+ patterns in them. This tests the amount of information your monkey brain can keep in it.
If you practice these types of problems all the time, you will do better, but that's pretty much training, and you would need to be checked with another test to accurately approximate your IQ.
Basically, if you have a HS education and are remotely familiar with how these tests work (like, you understood the first few problems), your result is accurate.
Hopefully you worked in a completely quiet place without distractions.
If you are unsatisfied with your score, you should learn a language/instrument/or grind n-back.
Mindfulness meditation might help, but questionable.
Also, come at me anons:
What do you mean idiot it could have been much worse.
Check my net worth over the years. I was 25 in 2014 and still in school with barely $10k in assets. Now I'm 30 and have a quarter million. You have plenty of time to choose the right direction.
I know but 25 sounds like such an intense birthday
I know I'm on a good path it just sucks to think that in this present moment I literally have negative wealth
Is college a meme or not? I'm only making 35K/yr without a degree in a relatively stress free job, only mildly physical. I MIGHT be able to get 40K after a year or two but it's pretty dead end after that
I've always been interested in IT work, but I fell for the college is a scam meme. Been studying for the A+ cert but also wondering if I should be going back to college. I'm already 26 and this shit is worrying me.
we're all fucked desu
>the slow death
it's not a meme but studying something that translates into a job
also INTERNSHIPS, get a fucking internship while in school and if they like you they'll hire you after school
I dropped out the first time. I was young and honestly fucking lost it at the idea of being in so much debt for a meme degree.
What are your "assets"? Not trolling, genuinely curious. The only one I have seen get rich on a Robert Kiyosaki type plan was a guy fixing up single family homes and renting them. But he also got started in 2008, so that kind of explains a lot of things.
College is NOT a meme if you choose the right major. But, to do IT, you really don't need a degree.
Comp TIA certs will mostly get you into helpdesk jobs, not programming jobs.
There are like a 1000 people here who will answer all your IT questions. Literally just ask.
I've got about $40k cash, $120k in stocks and crypto, $105k in my 401k and company retirement stock plan, and my car is worth $9k.
based
ok time to go booze
appreciate the insight bros
how did i test 140 in school and my drunk ass tests 105 as an adult
>fell for the alcohol jew cuz he can't handle the paint of striving
ngmi
you're a nigger
>21k
That's not so bad. Well, I guess it is when you're only making 40k BEFORE taxes lmao. Gov. takes half of that.
Damn. I thought I Was an outlier being 23 and
living with parents. No college education make 35k per year pre tax.
Is moving in with roomates worth it?
>political science
Same boat. I only have 10K in student loans so my net worth is positive, at least.
im 20
got 29k from 2 years of work
just quit my job
where do I go from here
>Is moving in with roomates worth it?
nah
the world is getting ever more hostile as time passes by
people drift apart, become lonelier, full of hate
irrelevant what strangers think
fuck that what normies try to impose upon everybody
not everyone can be a happy retarded low inhibition normie that doesn't grasp even 10% of what's going on behind the curtains since civilizations started
at least back then people held together in tight communities
now it's ever colder and no one cares about strangers because people become merely a statist
>outlier
I think you /we still are outliers, of the few people my age I know (3), two live alone in expensive small apartments in tge town, and one lives with his gf.
Personally I'm saving up to buy a small house (100k tops) in the woods an hour or so from town, and live there when I'm not working and sleep at my parents the days I work.
I work 12 hour shifts two or five nights every week, so there is no use having a one hour commute on work days, and I don't care for a social life anyway.
Hopefully I can cut down on work hours too and get a full free week off every month, but that might be hoping for too much.
Thanks for reading my blog, I felt like I needed to put my thoughts into text.
Also I'm finally back home and going to sleep now, see you in seven hours or so.
How does it feel to be blisfully unaware?
Maybe you Zoomers or Millennials should rethink of what you study for fucks sake.
Electric/Mechanic Engineering is always seeked maybe do this when you see that your classes in hyper super duper computergayness is full of pajeets/incels.
Imma doing my bachelor in electrical engineering in germany and im guaranteed an income of around 3.5k€net after tax (not included the additional benefits of around 1.5k€) here in germany cuz our zoomers/doomers/millenialls all want to study dem fancy mba/computer.cc-Pajeet-incel-shieeit/businessman-classes (dunno what it called in english or Andropogenous diploma and these classes are oversaturated and wages will get low , but mine is 100% safe.
oh and im 26 and im gonna finish the degree in part time with 29ish
Good for you user
You're in for a rude awakening when you find out that engineering is one of the most competitive and autistic fields in the world
I majored in Biology but now am an engineer at an automotive company. Would like to transition to medical devices in a couple of years. IQ 135
Get another job and save more till you can life off of investments,
Lol you murricans.
>25
>Masters In Architecture,
>0k student debt, because free duh.
>comfy job
>making 50k a year
>saving 30k this year, frugal af.
>gamble it all away on the internet casino
fml
Put yfw 34k/yr puts you in global 1%
Not to mention respected and beloved
lmao, maybe 30 years ago. Engineers are so fucking common now, its so saturated
Most 25 year olds would be happy to be making 40k a year. There's literally no jobs that pay more than 12 bucks an hour these days.
at this point i'd be happy with 35k a year, nice coworkers and free food plus snacks at work..
>pay 40k/year to study political """science"""
has to be bait
what did you expect you brainlet, eat shit and die faggot
Hey friend, I just want you to know...
You're not smart enough for a comp sci job. Please stick to beating off to loli idols.
if it makes you feel any better i'm EXACTLY what you described but i dont even make 40k. maybe closer to 35k
>born into a family that founded a fortune 500 organization
>Literally never worked a day in my life
>Drive a new car, wear nice clothes and dating two dimes
>Family is pressuring me to have kids or work in the business but I'm only 24
Feels weird man, I just want to play video games and smoke weed
>it wasn't supposed to be like this
Thats where you're wrong bucko
hope your larp makes you feel better
I'd be wary of IT, and most forms of engineering is dead. People flooded engineering and now the job market is shit, and the same shit is happening with IT, it already can be outsourced to India to India + domestic script kiddies who will do it for peanuts make a decent wage hard. Medical is always a good bet, they make about 60-75k for a 2-3 year degree, about 80k+ if you take some specializations/extra languages.
From a poor persons perspective I eventually got tired of playing video games cause they're all repetitive and don't really contribute to anything unless you're playing with friends.
Overeating and working out like a madman to burn off the calories is where its at.
Seems like you just racked up a huge amount of debt investing in crypto and stocks. You did good in the end, but I'm not sure if it justifies being 300K in debt. I don't know how the average person in your position could avoid blowing their brains out from years 2013-2018.
Liberal arts
I was never $300k in debt. For some reason, mint.com double-entered my student loan account for a few months.
I cashed out a bunch of crypto and paid off my student loans in January 2018. Then I took out a personal loan a few months later to buy crypto. Dumb and greedy, I know.
I am going to use this thread to post about my grinding, so I get a false sense accomplishment.
you're a goddamn retard drop out now
