Is taking no annual leave/holidays a bad idea?
I haven't taken a holiday yet this year and if I don't it'll increase my income for this calendar year by about 9% as my boss says he'll just pay for the time.
Is it worth it? I also fucking hate my job and want to shoot myself in the head every morning.

taking a vacation won't solve this... you'll enjoy your trip, feel refreshed, be happy, and then you'll come back to the same job that you hate that makes you want to shoot yourself.
Personally I'd just take the payout and put it towards your escape plan/retirement, and it's probably a good idea to start shopping around for a new job. One thing I learned in life is that it's usually the wrong move to be complacent and settle for a subpar existence.
We humans can adapt to all sorts of terrible situations, tolerating jobs we hate for decades, and many people end up doing that for no reason, without even looking for an alternative.
Maybe you can find a job that is way more enjoyable for you, with better company culture, or better pay, or closer to home, or maybe in a completely new field, but whatever the case may be, a vacation is not the solution.

Haven't taken a real vacation in over two years. Most I've taken since then was Thur, Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon off. I also never get 3 day weekends at my job, and no paid holiday, plus I usually work holidays. I cash out all of my vacations. This is what I have to do because I work a shitty low wage job.
Point is...might as well get used to going to work every day. The feeling of going back after a week off is so terrible that you might as well have just not taken any time off.

i did this accidentally once. i went the whole year taking no holidays because i turned into a droid. hated my life so much but i was just full droid mode. cant remember a fucking thing about the 2 years of my life i wasted there between 17-19.
near the end of the year i was like "shit bro i aint used any of this holiday" so my boss let me take 2 weeks off instantly and made a deal i could carry the next 2 weeks over to next year. i said sound and off i went.
in this time i realised how epic life could be outside of that shithole. i felt like i had come back to life.
when i then went back to work in 2 weeks i did not feel refreshed. i felt fucking horrible that i had to go back to this place and was UNBELIEVABLY low in energy.

I took a 2 week holiday in Thailand recently. The longest holiday I've taken since I started working. I was miserable when I got back.
