What's shipping my brokers? How are you coping today?
/Broker of Freight General/ /FBG/
bump.
Just locked in another dedicated account
Ez money
What commodity?
Is anyone there? Are you all dead?
>tfw 3rd party Amazon logistics specialist
At least freight broker can earn some commission if you are chad enough. I fucking HATE these late stage capitalism sales and warehouse jobs, its so fucking faceless and dystopian
Not a broker but I'm here. Hang in there, baby!
Do you work in a literal wagecage? What do you do exactly? Become a broker and join us user.
nah, its 3rd party so its not actually amazon slavework, i am just deploying and directing the amazon slaves from a different location. still sucks though. i should have been a fucking doctor and instead i pissed my life away on weed and vidya
Haha git gud buddy
vessel operator here, chartering is the only way to get rich
Just curious as the market has been pretty tight and I'm doing primarily spot market shit.
Except for a few dedicated reefer lanes I handle.
Become one of us user.
Redpill me on chartering
Really digging this new meme, hope it catches on OP, god bless.
It's not a meme. This is our lives.
You will watch the radar dot disappear as the boat you are directing capsizes on water with loss of all lives and cargo.
wtf i love being a boat guy now
Cross dock manager checking in, still think you should make a /logistics fag general instead! Still love your threads either way freight broker bro.
Thanks man. Rough day at work today. Starting to lose hope of making it at this rate....
Lolol I operate a cross dock for one of Amazons biggest 3PLs. If it wasn't for them demanding 2 man deliveries on all their big screen TVs years and years ago I would have never gotten my foot in the door.
Don't give up user, just keep in mind your other option is essentially service industry minimum wage bullshit. I say this while every day I have left is getting more and more soul crushing. It's my Saturday, and I've just been monitoring emails, not responding to any, but just monitoring them to see the massive amount of fuck ups my staff caused this weekend.
I just know I'm capable of more. I've been looking at other sales jobs they seem so good if they would give me a fucking chance. I'm sure with the same effort I put into this job I could make 3x as much somewhere else with less frustration and stress. But I mentally cuck myself into just accepting my fate.
The only redeeming factor is that my portfolio is growing at a rapid pace.
Well just remember even Einstein was a lowly patent office clerk until almost 30.
Don't want to use that as a cope when I know there's people my age accomplishing great things every minute
>B-but George Green had no formal education and dropped out in elementary school then only began studying mathematics at 36 years old and came up with Green's Theorem!
I don't want to use that as a cope user, I'm meant for more than brokering freight and talking to Pajeet.
How have you guys not been automated out of existence yet?
No one is able to. Uber Freight fucking sucks. We'll probably be automated or at the very least the brainless work will be in the near future.
bump
lmao
bump
bumping this damn general
anyone there?
i'm here. getting some sweet OT time plus free donuts today in breakroom
This meme is stupid. How do you even get into this field? It seems competitive as fuck and average salaries are all over the place. It's a fucking scam and probably completely social in nature with negotiating deals and talking to potential clients more than broking freights.
You just have to apply. it's competitive yes but everything in life with money in it is.
>It's a fucking scam
How?
Trucklet cope
If it's competitive how do you set yourself above your competitors?
You need a truck too? I thought it was something you could do from home.
>If it's competitive how do you set yourself above your competitors?
By working harder than them. There's people making way more money than I am through both hardwork and luck but I'm not doing bad.
No you don't need a truck, you should do research on what brokering actually entails and if you have some specific questions I'd be happy to answer them
Why are there 2 FBGs??? fuck you all
Major carriers have their own one click brokerage apps
You've still not said anything about the actual work. I understand the basics of what they do but that doesn't mean I know the actual job of one. Do you work for a company or are you independent? How much do you make? How do you find prospective clients and available services? I'm calling it a scam because I see average salaries of $50K and $200K and not a lot of actual industry insight on how this happens or how to bridge the gap as a new broker.
Depends on the brokerage you work for. I work for a mid-sized brokerage.
>How much do you make?
$44k this year to date and the rest is to be determined. Probably somewhere around $60k to end.
>How do you find prospective clients and available services?
You call and email prospects all the time (this is the bad part of the job when you start).
>I see average salaries of $50K and $200K and not a lot of actual industry insight on how this happens or how to bridge the gap as a new broker.
Honestly a lot of work and some luck. Or inheriting accounts when someone leaves. That range is accurate but you're highly unlikely to make $100k+. For the most part it has a very high turnover - many people fail and quit/get fired, most do okay probably like $50-70k a year range and a few do really well and make bank.
