Another user was talking about dividend-focused ETFs, particulatly those available commission-free on Charles Schwab. I'm looking at one that looks promising right now under the ticker DON (WisdomTree US Mid Cap Divdidend Fund). This ETF has one major point in its favor, namely that it's ticker symbol is a title of nobility, putting it--in my mind--in a class with ETFs like NOBL, REGL and KNG. Wisdom tree also has large-cap and small-cap counterparts (DGRW and DES respectively), but both have apparently uninspired ticker symbols. Another interesting fact is that LCI Industries (LCII) is among its top-ten holdings, which I thought amusing. I'll do some more research when I'm not on a phone, but I think this might be the one.
Jacob James
Top of my current list of badass ETFs that trade commission free on schwab. (Except nfo, that has a fee)
DGRW might be the best fit for NOBL if I remember right, still haven’t found anything that imitates VIG. But SPLV is just blowing everything away, it’s kind of crazy.
Nice. Not to knock SPLV, but something with "low-volitility" explicit in the name sounds like a sissy's ETF. That's not to say it's a bad investment, only that it might merit more rigorous scrutiny than other funds...
In my prior post, it looks like I may have conflated two different classes of WisdomTree's ETF. It looks like the large-cap countetpart to DON and DES would be DLN. DGRW goes with DGRS. I'll have to sort that out when I'm back at a real computer.
Good or bad idea? Buy a long call (2021) that has a premium about 1/5 the value of the current stock value AND the stock has been bleeding for like a year.
It’s got some of the best companies that are going to be around literally forever. It’s got the foodchads, the big banks, the big utilities, etc. etc...
The more I look into it the more I like it, I just wish it had a fatter divvy to DRiP.
M1 Finance seems like such a good app but because I'm not american I have to either pay fees buying each company sotck or keep paying fees forever buying ETFs. When will they allow non-americans to use it too? :(

The volume is low as fuck, even if I had a large position it would be illiquid as fuck

SPlv? I used to talk about it last year its one of the few etf thast actually beat the spy so its good
John Perez
If it's been bleeding for a year I would buy puts before calls
Jack Anderson
all in barrick gold
Caleb Howard
Are we talking about NATH or SPYV?
I'll go all-in if the ETF's that good. Half of those made me back a lot of money.
Yeah, on most time frames it beats the SPY, which is pretty impressive. What the hell, you knew about this thing?
Talking about SPLV, pay attention.
Oh boy, another shooting star play, how exciting! >tfw I’m going to be holding this 1.0121 shares of BowlAmerica until I die
Grayson Bell
>SPLV Think it's worth re-entering the market with that ETF tomorrow? I'm a student that doesn't pay close attention to the market anymore.
Robert Baker
I really couldn’t say. There’s good reason to think that the market will be reaching new highs within the next year, but September is also a very shitty month, historically. Part of what I like about this etf is that it’s a schwab nofee fund, so if I buy it on the way up and set a tight stoploss, there isn’t much to worry about.
That, and if I end up bagholding on this one, I couldn’t be too upset since it’s damn high quality.
James Jackson
I don't understand. You're telling me I really only have to get a better work salary, while getting lucky in the stock market?
Its really not that great. I'm sure their broker makes a bunch of money by taking advantage of the "1 trading window per day" do you buy overpriced stuff, nothing is "free." However, I do think the ability to buy fractional shares end up paying for itself. I just hold long so idc about the other trading options but you can either buy or sell, that's it.
Juan Myers
>while getting lucky in the stock market?
It's not just getting lucky. You also have to risk manage so you don't bleed all over the floor trying to get that moon shot. Then holding gains after the moon shot. If you got one moon shot you are not going to quit. You need that feel again. So you continue to trade like a gambler because you didn't learn the valuable lesson.
I'm assuming you meant to reply to me, not hot dog man. IMO the individual companies probably matter less since even the largest holdings are only 1.x% of the fund. That's compared with an ETF like SCHD where the top ten is over 44% of the fund, and Home Depot alone is over 5%. One thing I noticed about SPLV is that it's very heavily weighted toward its top-three sectors: utilities, financials, real estate (in that order). I think that would be a more important consideration in evaluating SPLV than its individual stocks. invesco.com/portal/site/us/financial-professional/etfs/product-detail?productId=SPLV
That's still better than buying X different stocks and paying $ per order or buying Y different ETFs and paying $ per order and the management fee. I'm also long as in I don't do any kind of trade. I just buy and buy until I can live off the dividends.
With M1 I could just replicate my favorite ETFs and let it snowball with a lot less money lost even if I'm buying things a bit more expensive.
Jayden Parker
It's from Charles Schwab. More specifically, from the Schwab quantitative stock report for NATH. Their mobile app cuts doesn't show most of the useful information that would be present on their normal website, so I was just making do with that.
Andrew Myers
I feel like their interfaces are really lacking. Trade source is an improvement, but I’m always switching around to find basic information or charts etc. and often use other sites, which shouldn’t be necessary.
And the app, it’s got some neat features but it is terribly lacking.
What the fuck is their problem? Why don’t they step up their game? Are other brokers this much of a pain?
what are you guys talking about the markets are closed

Seriously though, futures are basically 2930, the point of resistance since August 19th. Except now that point is above the trend line, leading me to believe its now easier for it to fall lower than it has the past few weeks.

I dont understands "puts" too well especially when you throw in that robinhood affects how you can handle these. I understand calls and that robinhood affects them by not allowing naked sell calls.
Josiah Cook
Yeah man, that’s my point, I like Su, but I’m iffy on semis. Seems like the problems with Jap vs Korea and US vs China are creating too much uncertainty.
Ayden Rogers
Low 4, really? That chick is better looking then the majority of women who I believe showed some level of interest in me.
The majority of attention I get on dating apps is grotesque girls and freaking faggots even though I set it up as only interested in girls.
In real life I get attention from better looking women but even then it's rare and the usual ones are ugly. Last 4 years I got attention from: >2 facially attractive ones >2 facially average >9 bare minimum in ugly women

Fedex have again be accused of sabogating the national safety of China, this time China claim they were trying to ship controlled knifes from China to Hong Kong.

Lose most of them when it all comes crashing down.
>Is that you, hongkongbro? ^.^ >Where have you been? Was on a family trip
Hudson Bell
Thanks for your analysis user, you make some good points. But I think I made a mistake in buying those schwab funds (SCHG and SCHD) especially since there are things like SPLV available. I’d rather have 1% of 5 companies I like as much as HD then 5% of HD, especially if we’re takig transactionfees out of the mix.
I was highlighting My favorite names in the fund, but it’s also diversification into all those names I know nothing about, like Aflac or all the real estate and financial companies.
Nice! Glad you’re back safe, look forward to hearing more. Gonna sleep now though.

Wasn't this demand rejected by the CCP?
This makes the Chinks look weak IMHO.
Adam Wood
>Wasn't this demand rejected by the CCP? It was only rumored to be so. I guess if that's real, then they're trying to change their approach a bit so that they could settle down the event before October 1 the PRC's 70th anniversary celebration >This makes the Chinks look weak IMHO. Analysts think that they are probably trying to use a carrot and stick approach, try to answer the easier part of protestors demand, while leaving out others, like investigate police abuse of power and violence, release arrested people, and democratic election, so that they can use even more powerful means to suppress remaining protestors who still demand these different aspects of issues to be addressed.
Anyway, the news say a televised statement will be air at 6pm local time, which is about an hour from now, if a decision have really been made then that's probably where it'll be announced
Jeremiah White
Did someone take the 25.40 long on TLRY I called ~2 weeks ago? If so congrats on the profit, pretty much caught the temporary bottom
Here's my thoughts: the Chinks will let the protestors have the extradition bill withdrawn, but if they are still on the streets after that then the CCP will go in.
>five demands >one, the bill must be withdrawn >two, the chief executive must resign > three, the government must retract its characterisation of the violent clashes as “riots” >four, there must be a full independent inquiry into the actions of the police >five, everyone arrested in respect of the clashes must be unconditionally freed.

just relax, think, have a long term plan. adjust the plan if necessary. the general skills and fundamentals that make success happen on the stock market are the exact same skills and behaviors that make success happen in other arenas of life

Alright lads I'm going in. Give me that google drive with the legally purchased books. Finally going to take some initiative in my shitty life.
>>Hong Kong stocks soar more than 3.5% following reports that extradition bill could be formally withdrawn >WOW that could be a big development if it happens. Carrie Lam have officially announced the formal withdrawal of the bill. However the after-trade future dropped 1% after her recorded speech was televised. The response was being seen as too little too late, without responding to other concerns among citizens.
*There are also worries that the concession will be used as justification to introduce further suppressive measures in the future, like introducing the energency act to suppress further protests, by saying "concession doesn't work"

How do you guys feel about small caps vs. the S&P?
Ayden Clark
There is definitely a feeling of inevitability Beijing will eventually get what they want, or they'll just build up Shenzhen (I think it was Shenzhen) and let HK decline in importance until no one cares. Eventually, if Beijing controls situations in a way that the HK economy keeps declining and the mainland economy keeps growing, the majority of HK citizens will ask Beijing to take over.
Buy em

Eventually, if Beijing controls situations in a way that the HK economy keeps declining and the mainland economy keeps growing, the majority of HK citizens will ask Beijing to take over. That's Beijing's logic. Doesn't mean it will work.
Joshua Wright
things about small cap stocks is that most large & popular ETFs ignore them so a lot of them become undervalued, there are definitely some amazing stocks there, probably the better buy than the general broad S&P in my opinion
