I'm not quite sure if I understand you correctly, but you give the impression that you think Craig has patented the blockchain technology itself. That is not how patents work. You can't patent something that is already out in the public, so it would be impossible to patent blockchain as you seem to think.
What craig has patents on however is technology built upon the core blockchain technology. We are talking about tech that will be used for second layer application and protocols like the metanet. If any companies want to build application based on those patents they would need the permission of Craig.
