27 year old burger here making minimum wage at a gas station. Is the military the best way for me to escape poverty?

no, taking loans to get through college for an engineering degree is the best way. anyone can do it, you dont need to be smart.
Is that why over 50% of engineer majors drop out or switch majors?
user never said that shit was easy
you dont need to be smart, you just need to know how to finish things
EE here. Yeah, lots of people who dont know what they want to do go into eningeering, specifically ME, just because. The media shills it too hard, making it seem like an easy and attainable well paying career. Well, half the engineering class dropped or switched in the first yr when they realized they couldnt even do first yr college chemistry. After that, about a third of the class dropped during the second yr but by the end of third yr, it was mostly stable, only about 4 or 5 stubburn boomers kept trying and failing yr after yr. My college wasnt the biggest nor a party college, so my EE class ended up graduating with like 20 people. ME probably had like 40 or 50. Also, most people tend to take 5 yrs to graduate if your engineering program is actually serious and rigorous. I think they know more normies go into ME because their program was more about rooting out the weak and they rountinely curved their tests to 50s while they expected us to actually develop and understand in EE and some of my later classes had no curve at all.
Interested in engineering but I already have meme degree and the state I live in makes it basically impossible to get a second degree so I would have to go out of state to get a second degree and take out massive loans.
Whys that?
fuck no, take a bartenders course or hvac and AC tech school. Trade schools are cheap and the jobs they train for pay well
Why not military then college? Do militaryfags not get free college in the US?
Get high paying job.
Step 1-2:
>Get job doing unpleasant or physically demanding work (e.g. construction, sewage), most of those pay at least $12/hour, at least, and many don't require education.
>Get in financial shape (pay off debt, save and invest).
Step 3: Pick one of the following. It will take a few years.
>Figure out how to get permanent job with government, or large corporation. I don't know how the government hires postal workers, but I know they're damn near permanent jobs. Work there the rest of your life. Solid benefits, and decent pay. All you need is to reliably show up. I don't know about the military, but they might be alright.
>Learn sales, start at phone sales job at an effective $12/hour, and master it, then car sales job at effective $20/hour, and build a customer base, that will eventually make you hundreds of thousands per year in car sales
>Get bachelor's degree in some valuable major, get normal job that starts at $50k/year, and ends up at $70k/year
Pick whatever you're good at. If you want, start on
>bls.gov
And just look up whatever you're interested in.
If you want to try a get-rich-quick scheme, you shouldn't. But definitely don't try
I should mention. You don't need to pick one of those three options. Anything that
1) Pays well and
2) You can be good at
will work.
Yes military is a good option to escape the rat race, just avoid buying SAFEX scam scum, I hear that they are targeting young adult that want to join the army
Lol by all means please die for Israel and the 1%
Also, if you choose the military, you can save a lot of money. Your expenses will be minimal (free food, free housing, etc). You'll get a certain amount of vacation, and if you can avoid spending a lot on those, you can often save 80%+ of your (after-tax) paycheck.
If you invest responsibly, in twenty years, you could be a literal millionaire, with veteran benefits.
the only people who got rich from the military where those who were good looters.
You can get technical training in the military that can carry over into a good occupation in civilian life. Don't fall for the Rambo meme. Study for the ASVAB or whatever it's called and get the best job in the military you can. Talk to all the recruiters from all the branches. Make it worth your while.
Ex-Australian Military Fag here.
The Military is good IF you play it smart with your money. If you use base amenities, save cash, don't get a loan for dumb shit like cars/bikes/boats, don't knock some local slutbeasts up and don't lose your clearance.
You get exposure to stuff that will help you post service (No King rules forever my son) and if you keep your clearance, there is a high chance a contractor will swoop in and grab you.
If you're a Muricka-fag, you get free college and subsides for completing your time in. Would be worth it and I wish Australia did it as well.
Offset to add;
You will get frustrated. You will be wronged. You will be stressed. You will get the short straw (unless you're a chick, just cockhop your way up and down the ladder) and if you're a white male; you will end up jaded, unless you're in a 5% margin that are kissed on the dick.
And they stand out, because they think its the best fucking job they've ever had, have never had back to back shit postings or workplaces, been wronged with leave apps, been injured or had anything of remote shitness occur to them. They master dodging it and looking busy. They end up as upper middle management rank and its very much a game of favourites.
I'm now earning more, doing more and enjoying life since discharging. You get mad FOMO hearing your mates doing cool shit, because you forget the bad. But I wrote tonne sof my shit down so that I wouldn't relapse into re-enlisting one day. I just read that and be very thankful for my quiet worklife now.
and finally;
You stand out to recruiters for companies. You may be down on job knowledge, but you have so many other skills others don't have. And its those that skills that are desired. Most people can be trained when they want to be. Hardwork, being on Time, energy, being coachable, being passionate, attitude, being prepared etc.... that stands out in a group.
I'm down a degree and 5 IT Certs for my current role; still got the job.
Yes, but go Air Force. They have the best of everything. Barracks, equipment, food, more women than the other branches. I was in the Army and I should have gone Airforce. Go take a look at all the jobs they offer it’s not just pilots.
You can easily coast for 20 years, get a pension then a nice comfy government job. If I could do it all again, that’s what I would do.
Yikes so much misinformation. For starters:
No fucking one is “paying off debt and investing” at $12 an hour. That’s barely a livable wage
Second, no car salesman makes hundreds of thousands, except for maybe high-end luxury vehicles. Dealerships take the lion’s share of the sale profits guaranteed
do you want to fuck some asians bitches? join the military
just try not to die
lmao you're way too old
Engineering is peak meme, enjoy studying hard to be an office drone managed by a retard with a business degree.
Especially as everyone doing a bootcamp is calling himself an "engineer" these days..
Truth is that degrees ultimately mean very much, it all depends how good you are at a specific job.
You have no idea what you’re talking about. I met plenty of 30 somethings join the military for various reasons
Is coast guard the best branch to join? It seems like glorified law enforcement + military benefits.
look into programming. dont die for isreal
dont do this. t.degrees in engineering , experience > degrees
military is a decent choice if you are willing to die but choose a rate or mos that u can do in civilian world
your best choice to make it is to leverage invest bitcoin and learn how to code while behind the counter of the gas station and make a portfolio and do contracting work for cheap
Do you know the best way to learn on a phone?
Depends if you do it smartly.
>get an Intel or other valuable MOS
>Save and invest
>Get certs and schools on Sam's dime
>Maybe finish school depending on workload, prob not
>Get it with GI Bill and VA home loan you can re use to turn a profit on properties.
>if you go reserves network with people who likely have more interesting careers and/or own busineses.
For as many ways as there are to turn it around in the military I've seen many many just crash and burn as well. These people were likely that way before though.
Also I would look to doing a VA disability claim and then taking the min amount of classes for a "housing allowance" through gi bill while you work to maximize gains. All that extra shit could go to whatever shitcoin you want.
100% disability is ~$3000/mo and if you live in or near a city your Housing Allowance will be above 2k/mo.
The camaraderie in the military is 2nd to none. Especially for 24 year old incel neck beards who have never had a real friend. What branch and job we're you thinking?
Pretty much my experience too. I went to k-state.
Isn't 24 too old though?
Lol engineering in college is fucking hard you moron, imagine taking a massive loan just so you can realize you're a dumbass and become suicidal after you fail most of you classes.
Yeah, also the risk of getting your legs blown off by an IED planted by a goat diddler is second to none. Good luck.
Why do neverserves perpetuate this meme? It gives away your lack of knowledge on the subject.
dude get the fuck out of the gas station. im serious, one of my friends got killed working at a gas station. srsly work at a restaurant if u have to or a hotel but ANYTHING besides a gas station. its super dangerous.
No do plumbing or electrical. Then move to wealthy suburbs somewhere. You'll clear 100k or more if you create your own business
kindle and amazon are your go to. I like understanding ecmascript 6 by nicolas zakas but there are many books out there. python is an easy language to learn but I would go javascript since you can be a full stack javascript developer and aysncrounous programming is easy in javascript es6+
>USC>CAD>USD>
Phewwwwwwwww,......
You're just wrong. On both counts.
If you're single, it's totally possible to save money on $12 an hour. Just reduce your living expenses. Rice and beans are cheap. Get a roommate. It's not fun, but it's possible.
And a significant portion of car salesmen make hundreds of thousands. They're the people that actively cultivate a base of loyal repeat customers to sell to. It takes years to build that, and you have to be really diligent, in addition to having a lot of sales abilities. Also, I was implying that it's the top of the "car salesman" field. I wasn't implying that the typical car salesman made anything like that.
Active duty military fag here.
Military is good but I hope you're married cuz you'll most likely be in the barracks with a bunch of 20 year olds
I'm a watercraft engineer for the Army, my plan is to learn the trade and take my maritime experience and bring it to civilian side. They make $$$
I don't recommend the Navy or the Air Force, one you'll be a faggot and the women won't fuck you cuz they fuck us. I've already had sex with 6 Navy and 2 Air force bitches and none of them fuck with guys in their branch. I'm biased but i would go Army, they have the most jobs and a lot of them pay a lot when you get out.
