For example, you make a contract requesting btc price and call 21 nodes. What's a valid response for you? 12 nodes beings right? 18 out of 21 being right? It's what makes possible that you, as a contract requester, have a certain freedom to set up an environment which you feel comfortable with.

This absolutely includes "staking", among others:
