Is anyone else mid to late 20's and considering going back to school? I'm starting to come to the realization that I'll be drifting from one shit job to another unless I get a degree.
Is anyone else mid to late 20's and considering going back to school...
Learn a fucking trade, don't fall for the boomer scam of going to college and getting a useless degree.
I don't want to work as a fucking plumber or welder though. There's enough competition for that and it doesn't seem enjoyable.
yes
nursing degree
here it starts around 25 and goes all the way up to 50 in a hospital
>going back to school
>get in debt
>drifting from one shit job to another
if you wanna wipe ass
yes but not for the job i already made it in the bullrun 2 years ago. still gonna go to university again this fall cause you learn some shit for life and get to know a ton of people
A degree won't help you.
t. stem graduate who went into trades and It consulting because they pay better
I have children as old as you and I went back to school at the age of 27. I spent 6 years in the Navy then worked for a few years. Got laid off and said fuck it and went back to community college for two years...worked dishwashing and labor jobs while I went to school, got accepted to pharmacy school and became a pharmacist.
My advice? Go back to school at the cheapest place that can transfer credits to a state school, take one core course for one semester (English 101, Math 101, etc)...if you think you can handle it, go for it; if not you didn't waste much money or time.
Despite how much people bitch these days, an education will, over time, add up to a better income and more job prospects.
There's literally no good jobs that don't require a degree though. And everyone has one nowadays so you can't compete at all without one.
You forgot to mention the fact that Hospitals are big Jews that charge you for internship, usually interns do it for free but I have never heard of PAYING for internship just so you can give pops a spongebath and wipe the ass of a morbidly obese burger.
who says i have debt i just want more money
i dont need a loan to go to school i have the money to pay for it
I got a security job at a college and now they pay my tuition and I'm getting bachelors degree for free
be an entrepreneur or a trader
they pay 18 here
>entrepreneur
Is that even feasible without skills/experience, capital and connections built up from working in the industry? Feels like a shot in the dark otherwise.
>trader
They literally all lose money though
Honestly this. Nurses actually get pretty decent pay. Also there's a huge shortage and as the boomers get older the problem is only going to get worse. Seriously if you or someone you know wants to get a degree but are unsure what to do go into nursing.
I have a friend who does welding. He tells me every day is like summer camp. He recently got a union position.
I'm getting a Master's Degree in Math. I have already been accepted to jobs and will easily be making 6 figures in a few years or less. College is NOT a scam, an impractical rite of passage, yes, but if you get good grades and don't take a Humanities major, college will open doors MASSIVELY. Don't listen to these people.
Engineering or CS are the BEST majors for getting a job. Double it up with a math major.
Just buy cryptos user. Trust me, within 2 years everyone will be realizing that jobs just help make the rich richer. No one will be willing to work lol, everyone will just put their money into ride or die investments. No point in getting 8% a year in some shitty index fund.
>just buy a scam bro it'll go well!
I got molested at summer camp, so not sure what
You're right user. Physical labor is icky and low class. Sitting at a desk forwarding emails and having to watch what you say because of the threat of lefties ratting on you for wrong think is a much more honorable existence for 15 bucks an hour.
if you really were that good at math you'd know college used to be for the 10% at the top, dumbass
How is breaking your body and working with borderline illiterate retards any better?
Physical labor is literally cucked. I worked for a general contractor for a while and it was the worst job, can't imagine living like that for decades.
>because of the threat of lefties ratting on you for wrong think
Like what? Talking about gassing jews and hanging gays? Why the fuck would I ever say that in public let alone in an email?
Thank you user, if I were to go back to school I would obviously study STEM.
i'm 30 going to art school
fuck normies
>Physical labor is literally cucked
Independently contracted tradesmen are about as far away from cucked as you can possibly be. They set their own hours, work when they want to, and later on, apprentice someone and become their boss.
I'm considering it just to sleep with 18 year olds. Should I just audit classes? I already have a decent STEM degree
the secret is: do really something you like and that you're good at.
and if there's no such a thing, or it's too late, you either are doomed or try to do the thing most close to it.
i studied hard to become an aircraft engineer.
i hated that job and it required HUGE life sacrifices (not only financial).
and now i work a shitty job around people with just high school degree. which i maybe still prefer, but life is a bitch anyway.
My best suggestion would be: be a teacher
life is not economically easy when you're a teacher, but you're free 3 months a year, saturday and sundays and also you work for a maximum of 6 hours a day + after school just a couple days a week.
also it's not a tiresome job and you won't probably be treated like shit by your superiors.
I am ironically in nurse anesthesia school right now. I get recruitment emails like pic related all over the country weekly.
Physical labor is unsafe if you're an idiot and don't use common sense when working with hazardous materials. My friend worked with these Hondurans (he began to hate spics in general afterward) who were fucking careless and sloppy. They both smashed their fucking hands with a heavy piece of metal and could no longer work.
This. I went to school, got a degree, it's a fucking scam. I don't use it, it's the same boomers who want you to give a firm handshake. Pave your own way, use drive.
There is so many horny teenage girls at summer camp. Summer camp makes them really slutty and they love to spread their legs for foreign dudes and explore each others bodies.
what do you mean by lean a fucking trade?
you mean trading stonks or what?
Learn how to code.
Work will always be work. Focus on accumulating enough wealth so that you don't have to work.
yeah that's what i did-- i have some advice that other anons here are already saying. when it comes to your major, if you don't know that there are multiple jobs RIGHT NOW out there for a specific position and you know what that position is and that you can get it, then don't do it. almost every degree is either useless or near impossible to get a job with. i know for sure the medical field is good. i don't know about anything else. i finish my medical lab tech program in june (i did not want to deal with patients), and i know i'll be able to get a job pretty much anywhere with a decent sign-on bonus too.
if you are asocial and interested in the medical field, i definitely recommend it. the only thing that sucks is phlebotomy is part of the required training, so you'll have to draw blood and have your blood drawn by your classmates, but often (depending on your hospital) you won't ever have to draw blood again.
Lemme give it to you straight. I started going to school at 24 (Only way I could get financial aid was to wait until I was 24). I'm 26 now, to give you a reference point. Being a student is like being a NEET, so it's very comfy and I get to see 18 y/o girls every day. You do not want to be 30+ and starting school, so it's better to start NOW, before it's too late if that is what you want to do. The hardest part is relating to the younger college students and feeling like an old boomer.
Also, if you go the trades route, it's a good choice.
Why is she so perfect bros?
Because she is 2d.
the internet exists teach yourself
based.
How competitive?
It's very competitive but just get in and don't fail out and you're golden.
>going into more debt for a modest pay raise
Hell no.
>Becoming a CRNAis a multi-step process that willtakeyou about seven to eight years to complete.
I'd be thirty fucking six by the time I'd be done. The chances of making are over for me
26 year old here. I got a useless arts degree and worked a few super shitty jobs after I graduated. Met a lot of people in their 40s and 50s who had done the same and just suffered through decades of shit tier jobs.
I just started my first year of a STEM program at a community college and love it
I don't want to do physical labour though. It's not enjoyable and it honestly doesn't pay as well as people meme about. Where I live there's a ton of unemployed tradespeople.
>Focus on accumulating enough wealth so that you don't have to work.
Can't really do that without a well-paying job.
I don't live in the United States, we don't cuck our own citizens here.
dude trades lmao
>I don't live in the United States, we don't cuck our own citizens here.
True, but you don't pay your STEM graduates well, either.
Nursing is dope though because you can make money in school, get RN wipe ass, get NP night school makea 100K don't wipe too mucha da ass, go to night school CRNA. So you can have a life all the while when trying to be a CRNA.
Don’t be a total fucking idiot!
Start your own business doing anything . Don’t worry if you fail at first . Keep going.
If your motivated you will make it eventually and learn far more than any school will charge you $100K for over 4 years of lost opportunities
There’s a video on YouTube about how useless a college degree is now. Every bartender and waitress has one trying to pay off the loan.
Is Pharmacy okay again? Heard the job might be dying out.
Also is finance and economics a good science degree? I am trying to decide between nursing or finance, I am interesting in helping people invest their dosh but nursing seems pretty tight because the money and work is so plentiful.
I think welding sounds awesome maybe i'll just do that.
Based boomer
>my linkies failed, time to get a real job
LOL FAGGITS
Good enough
1) Tuition isn't gouged like it is in the US
and 2) I've been reading and it feels like the people who REALLY make it with their business worked in the industry for years first and actually had capital, connections and knowledge/skills for the business they started... Kind of difficult to have all these things if you're just entering in for the first time it seems
>1) Tuition isn't gouged like it is in the US
I’m not in the US I’m a Kiwi who started out as sales clerk/ storeman.
>2) I've been reading and it feels like the people who REALLY make it with their business worked in the industry for years first
Sure this sounds wise. I put 7 years into my industry before went out alone. But it’s absolutely NOT necessary. I could have started out way earlier as I discovered the main ingredient to success is enthusiasm. Persistence is the key
>Even going to NP school
All you need to do is graduate school, get an ICU job, work critical care for one year, then do CRNA. CRNA school is full time school though. There is no way you can work, which is why a lot of people can't do it. Some people still have undergrad debt and now getting more debt for their graduate degree.
I made a lot in the stock market though so I'm paying for school out of pocket. Feels good man.
How though? It seems like it would be a risky move to start a business with a fairly high rate of failure to just go out at it "blind" with none of those things.
When you read up on things like people that sold their tech startup for millions of dollars literally ALL of them had degrees and worked in the industry first, otherwise you won't have any idea who to call for funding or sell to.
The truth that most don’t want to admit is if you really want to be financially successful you will!
It’s absolutely how much you want it. Speculation on assets with all your capital/ energy isn’t going to work for 99%. Thats well proven by history
>How though? It seems like it would be a risky move to start a business with a fairly high rate of failure to just go out at it "blind" with none of those things.
Definitely it’s risky .
Obviously you try and start out with something you know or have a passion for.
For me it was trading raw materials / ingredients.
But man it was tough early on. The first 5 years sucked ass but I learnt so much got real experience .
Like I said there is many examples of entrepreneurs who failed multiple times before they made it.
Check out Branson he started selling fucking vinyl records as a teen lol. Pretty sure he had no degree
>be a teacher
>work 6 hours a day
>not a tiresome job
>won’t be treated like shit by your superiors
This is dumber than than Bitcoin: Satoshi’s Vision
>pharmacy
If you want to kill yourself in 5 years its got good prospects. Seriously, everyone I know in pharmacy is near suicidal.
Just get a fake diploma and lie on your resume. They only care about it as a checkbox anyway. It will have the exact same benefit as wasting years of your life and going tens of thousands in debt.
Word up I might use that advice I will likely be busting my ass many years to pay for school though. :(
School is a scam in the USA unless you go for top tier degrees like mathematics, science (physics, bio, chem), or some sort of medical nursing bullshit.
You will learn outdated bullshit, and the only benefit is you are in an environment where people are trying to get ahead in life so it is easier to make connections and network.
For the majority of the population, a trade will be way better. I know smog technicians that make more than lawyers.
Is "the trades" our new meme?
How does one get into consulting work anyway? You just set up a website and they come to you or how does that work?
Well fuck.
I've tried that route and failed, I'm 21. What I've decided on doing is really self realizing myself and figuring out who it is I want to be and want to be doing. I've basically spiritually dedicated myself to this personal goal. It's something I find gives me more hope and motivation than merely jumping into some occupation solely because of money, status, or perception of easiness. This goal of mine will actually force me to work as much as I possibly can with almost all the free time I have at my disposal. I currently do not earn much money working minimum wage but it gives me hope.
It really isn't. A good mechanic can charge over 100 dollars an hour; I charge 110 and am planning on raising to 120 soon. A trade will make you a lot of money if you are good at it. You can be good at your cucked office job and still get passed for a promotion.
if you've managed to save up enough money to go to school then why do you need a higher paying job? sounds like you're making enough to enjoy life, invest, and retire sooner than most.
don't go into too much debt and get an employable degree
I fell for the college meme and I'm certainly paying for it
worth it 100% I had a blast but I have a negative net worth rn
Yes because mechanics have no other expenses, just $100 directly into your pocket!
Not everyone wants to be a wrenchmonkey either.
nobody tell him
Why?
you have to work with faggot kids all day every day. unless its a college teaching job which is probably slightly more bearable.
went to college twice, community, then tech, go out after a couple semesters both times and incurred no debt. best financial move I ever made.
my wife, not so lucky, over ten grand in debt that we're paying back for absolutely zero return. she did realize it was a waste but not until she got that far, and that was before we ever met.
talked to my junior supervisor the other day, kid says he's like 130k in debt and acts like it's not a big deal. communications major. the kid moved out and couldn't afford it so he moved back in with his parents, wears jordans, has literally nike tattoos on his legs, flaunts the latest iphone like it matters. owes 15 grand on his car. and people think he's successful!
>dude, just spend years training for a dead industry
Fuck off tradie.
i like money
>Also, if you go the trades route, it's a good choice.
Why would you come on here and give down syndrome tier advice that you yourself do not practice? Do you go to a school for downies or something?
Because they probably saw that some plumber charged their mom $400 to install a washing machine and decide that they must make a hundreds of dollars an hour consistently.
In my area there's tons of unemployed tradespeople.
>and people think he's successful!
How do you know? Did you ask other people about him?
the kid has been with us for 5 years and has family ties to other people that work with us, yes i know the inside line on him. nobody thinks his debt is an issue and they think he's smart because he has a masters degree in a field nowhere near our line of work.
Learn to suffer and smile with your brethren. You can have both. The universe is a scam.
>bro just become a plumber they make $500/hr! My mom said so!
At the end of each job I make a profit, I don't even take jobs that don't net a good profit. You are just uninformed and talking shit, no worries, I'm not even mad I was just trying to help out a fellow user.
I work on Tesla and hybrid/electric vehicles too. You are just misinformed, again like most people at topics/subjects they don't understand. Don't be rude because of your ignorance, at least try to understand what you are talking shit about.
there is ZERO chance that you are making 6 figs on a masters
in fact when writing this i just realized that you THINK you will make 6 figs
you wont moron you should have stuck with engineering or cs nobody gives a shit about math
All CS jobs are getting automated or outsourced in the near future. It’s the biggest scam. Engineering, math, medical and law are the guareented saviours if you’re not a brainlet. If you’re a brainlet then business.
Fren i was thinking the exact same thing tonight. I'm 29 and i keep thinking that somewhere along of random jobs i'll find myself or just land a nice paying career. But it doesn't happen
We need to make it
I see 6-figure positions for mathematical statistics and Data Analysis that are master's level, my connections have been telling me about them. I know how to code, and about half my courses are stats.
CS probably would have been better as a double major. I started out in Biology and Chemistry though. I have a undergraduate citation in biology. So perhaps I can take a modelling route?
I started university of applied sciences (ICT) when I was 28.
Too bad warehousing, construction and physical labor for the last 10 years has made me dumb as fuck, I suck at coding. Most people from my line never graduate: over 50% get a job before they get the paper, our teachers tell that every week they get requests from near-by companies and networks needing coders.
I also have little to none motivation for a normal career: I made $150k from crypto in less than 6 months just clicking muh magic internet tokens and watching funny youtube cat videos at the comfort of my home. World feels like a fucking scam
tradesmen make more than you bro
I have a stem degree and I am a neet. Degrees don't mean shit. The only thing that matters about a university is going to one that allows you to network with rich kids, every other school is a scam.
I'm probably going back for a masters in accounting. I guess it's not as bad as going for bachelors degree, but still i lost my youth already. And yes I know what you think about accounting and its future, but there are additional details I'm taking into consideration, when going for this particular field.
I’m hopefully going at 23 to study medicine (I’m British, this is done at 18 normally). I already have a degree (again, not typical in uk) and sure could get generic office job and be bored out my mind by 40 or could do something truly important, enjoyable and prestigious.
get into a trade, im 19 and its working out great for me
The trades are dogshit. Stop shilling it. Its garbage
>mfw wasted time on this bullshit and got an associates in the electrical trade
it’s not the degree that increases your pay but the passion/effort you’ve proven to put into your work. I built my own business from scratch and succeeded - they will always pay me more than anyone with degree and similar work experiences
>Is that even feasible without skills/experience, capital and connections built up from working in the industry? Feels like a shot in the dark otherwise.
gotta start somewhere? nobody said it would be easy but its more rewarding than literally everything else
see>main ingredient to success is enthusiasm. Persistence is the key
100% correct
>....literally ALL of them had degrees...
not all - but they probably had people working for them that did - big difference.
sure it helps having experience. But an expert in their respected field in todays times is literally 5 mouseclicks away. Don't need to have that "special knowledge" but rather have to know where to get it and combine it to create a successfull business
Brainlet response from someone who cannot handle STEM.
