What does "making it" mean to you? If you're rich then why don't you just stop doing those things?

A chainlink thread died for this

same here op. can't see forest for the trees. old guys tell me i'm doing really good. jealous of other families my age making six figures, but my net worth trumps them by miles.

making it is what you make of it.

making it bigger is always the next step.

i make almost 200k per year and im approaching half a mil net worth

for me, that's making it. I can retire in my family's old farm town if I wanted to. and I've only worked 3 years

Yeah but what does that even mean? If OP is rich then why the fuck doesn't he just buy new clothes? You could totally replace your wardrobe with $2000 max.

its psychological user don't you understand?

If you're consciously aware of it can't you just make the rational decision to do it anyway? What exactly are you doing that earns $200k a year?

its not how your brain works user it's not a rational determination made through analysis it's a heuristic-induced feeling affecting your mind's perception of reality and mood

and i write ai/deep learning software

What if you just went to the store and bought new clothes? Would your body physically reject you walking into a clothing store and beginning to try on clothing?

good job OP. Sounds like you still understand the value of a dollar, even though you're rolling in cash right now. That being said, you need to learn the value of enjoying what life has to offer. Spending 50 grand on a car probably isn't worth it even if you can afford it, and if you don't care about clothes then a new wardrobe isn't either. But buying some strawberries if you can afford them, or spending money on stuff that will bring you a lot of enjoyment is very important. Don't neglect that. Don't be stingy with your money, be frugal. That means not spending money on stuff that doesn't bring any joy to your life, and instead splurge on things that do.

Stop trying toimpress people faggot

I wouldn't do it, I'd stand there and if anything costed too much I'd just keep standing there and start having a panic attack at the idea of buying it

if its a good quality lifetime product i'd buy it, but clothes almost never area

ty for the advice I know youre right

im looking for like-minded people

how do we break out of this mind prison?
I quit working due to the 2017 run made a couple mil but have no motivation to buy a house or shave or even throw my cumstained tissues away
I wish I could appear normal but I don't know who to go to for help

Well at least if you have children they'll get to inherit your money. Otherwise you're going to be buried with millions, hope it's worth it.

Just be yourself and you will find them

probably a therapist, at the same time, do we need to break out of it? it causes us misery though so the answer must be yes, we should

I really like hanging out with my siblings because they sort of peer pressure me into acting like a normie and buying a starbucks or a video game, it's the only time I do

stay true to yourself and you will find them

Its rare in todays world but possible

when you spend money on a coffee or whatever, make sure that you take time to "smell the roses" i.e. enjoy and appreciate it. From watching one of my friends I learned to appreciate well crafted objects, and from my gf I learned to take time to enjoy tastes and textures of food.

Side note, don't drink coffee, it's unhealthy. Just eat raw grassfed butter and you'll have much more energy and vitality (not memeing)

>do we need to break out of it?
we don't need to but aging alone is depressing
I'd like to get a wife and kids one day but my lifestyle is ridiculous
yea hanging with family is the best I feel good when I'm around them and try to appear well, it's why I would probably never move very far from where I grew up

If that is not completely passive income, that's still not "making it" in my book.
Same, despite having a decently large income, I dress in decade old clothes, and usually eat food from the dollar menu.

To me, "making it" is when you are financially free to actually do whatever you want without having to worry financially ever again.

If you still have to worry financially, you still haven't made it.

And if there's actually no stuff you want to do if you ever get such freedom, then "making it" is wasted on you, and you shouldn't bother. These are the type of people who are better off wagecucking because they'll have no sense of purpose otherwise.

>making $200k a year in passive income

You would need a multimillion dollar portfolio, that is quite a high standard to set.

>To me, "making it" is when you are financially free to actually do whatever you want without having to worry financially ever again.

And wait a sec... How do you people make so much money while dressing like NEETs? If you have a high-paying job isn't there a dresscode? If you're running a business don't you need to look good to impress your clients?

I've never understood this meme

in software nobody cares what we wear, from what I can tell some people dont even shower or brush their teeth, at least I haven't stooped to their level. a lot of people just wear random t-shirts given to them for free at technology events instead of buying clothes, myself included

I was a dishwasher and did sales for a short time, no college degree or anything
In my free time I studied conspiracies was a libertarian and the banking conspiracy led me to bitcoin
4 years ago I won about 20k gambling and put it all into bitcoin, traded a little bit, cashed out a little bit, stayed frugal
stopped working in 2017 and don't really know how to be a professional or adult

>some people dont even shower or brush their teeth

Bizfags so concerned about money

Sad stuff peeps

Imagine buying shit tokens considering there will never be an alt season instead of leveraging and buying real estate and becoming a slum lord millionaire.

You frog posters are fucking disgusting. You are a step away from join the kommunistische partei, the same that raped your women and children.

also lived with my parents until the end of 2017 and now rent a small house built in the 50s

The amount isn't the point.
If you earn $1m annually but have to work 60 hour work weeks for it, and have lifestyle bloated so much that you barely save anything, probably even making several mortgage or car payments, you haven't made it in my book.

BUT if you spend like $24k annually, and have $30k+ passive income, you've made it in my book.

Because you don't have to worry financially ever again, you can do whatever you want.

>If you have a high-paying job
Then you haven't "made it" per my definition above.
You still have a "job", no matter how high paying, and can't do whatever you want all day everyday.

Just lay low and work on opsec, keep fighting the fight because it won't be long until you can buy armies.

if you have a high paying job that has guaranteed or stable prospects of increasing compensation over time, you've made it in my book. you haven't "made it" yet, but you've locked yourself a ticket on the "making it" train, which is basically the same thing.

I want to create a self sustaining community that owns local government is strapped to the gills and ready to defend against this foreign surveillance and control we're under
I might be crazy but these next 10 years will be fun

this
I keep telling these anons, if they are social recluses, do nothing in their free time, don't exercise, eat shit food, barely or no friends, no gf
Then there is no making it. No matter how much money they might make, if they have the same depressed low energy mentality then they'll always be miserable.

I see people making it every day, with 40-50k peon salaries. That's because they somewhat enjoy what they do, but also live normie lives on the side.

>which is basically the same thing.
Not really, because you're still waging.

The point of "making it" is that your control your time, and all your time is "free time".
If your still a wagey, you still don't have the entire day off, everyday.

I mean, yeah, I get your point. If you stay frugal and save most of your pay, and invest properly, you're "on the way to making it". BUT the important distinction is that you're still not yet there.

And from your OP, it seems you're not even sure if you'll enjoy it. What do you plan on doing with all the time and money when you retire?
Would you stay frugal and just end up old and rich, not having enjoyed life?

okay how do I get friends? I have hobbies and I read, exercise, etc.

>When I had normal legs I wouldn't step in bear traps
>Now that I have robot legs I still don't want to step in bear traps

Why the fuck are you so desperate to JUST yourself?
Keep doing what works.

What's the point of being rich if you won't spend any money to enjoy your life.

>to retire!
And then do what? Still be scared to spend any money but have the "freedom" to just post on Jow Forums all day and fap to torrented porn?

If you're still worried about splurging, then that means you haven't made it.

>tfw you get scared to spend $4 on strawberries because that's too much
This is the reason why you will stay rich and probably make 200k a year.

Is this some sweatshop software company?

>What's the point of being rich if you won't spend any money to enjoy your life.
>What's the point of building this fancy vase if I don't get to smash it?

Money provides you with what you need to live and safety.
Money gives you a safety net to experiment and try new things.

That is the only point of money.
If you are trying to accumulate it just to spend it aimlessly on $4 strawberry's and $100 designer T-shirts you are a waste.

Attached: 16791-Fancy-Vase-with-handles[1].jpg (760x1138, 194K)

its a mainstream gigantic company. its a minority of people im talking about, i was exaggerating a bit, but it's there and it can't be ignored

>If you are trying to accumulate it just to spend it aimlessly on $4 strawberry's and $100 designer T-shirts you are a waste.

You'd have to buy a lot of strawberries and t-shirts to use up a $200k a year salary. If you literally can't spare a few dollars out of your enormous income to enjoy your life then you might as well be poor.

>Money provides you with what you need to live and safety.
But you're not suppose to spend the money anyway. Just live in a cardboard box like a homeless person to save an extra $10-20k a year that you'd spend on rent or a mortgage!

>You'd have to buy a lot of strawberries and t-shirts to use up a $200k a year salary.
You are a moron, completely missed the point.

>If you literally can't spare a few dollars out of your enormous income to enjoy your life then you might as well be poor.
Imagine being this retarded.
I'm not going to tell you why your wrong, i'm just going to mock you, then ignore you.

> Just live in a cardboard box like a homeless person to save an extra $10-20k a year that you'd spend on rent or a mortgage!
I knew you were going to say something like this by the way.

if you do what you really want to do you'll never have a day of regret in your life and you'll never have a boring day either. you're made so where do you go now from here? where will your choices take you?

Yea, that is how it is in tech.
Salesmen, middle men, all these types of jobs depend on impressing others so they have to dress the part, programmers only have to be good at programming, dressing in a suit won't make you code better so they go for comfort.

Nobody actually likes wearing a suit.
Nobody would chose to wear a suit if they did not have to except for a very few weirdos and some people obsessed with the past.

If you have ever met a night club owner they usually look the same way, old comfy clothing while all the employees are dressed to the 10's.

Between these two points if view, I think there is a healthy middle ground.

I agree, making it is primarily as a safety net, to be financially secure to do whatever you want while never having to worry financially. But no one said you shouldn't enjoy life while you're at it.

I know I said here that I wear decade old clothes and eat cheap food.

But I would also pay for comfort.
Like I have a Jow Forums pass because fuck entering a captcha every time.
And I keep my room air-conditioned when it's hot rather than drown in sweat.

I'd probably buy those $4 strawberries if I really wanted strawberries. Heck, I occasionally spend $5 for a small plate of salmon sashimi, barely 5 slices, just because I enjoy that.

BUT I would never waste money on a $100 designer shirt. That's neither comfort not something I enjoy, that's nothing but bling, a status symbol, wasting money to look rich.

>business and finance

take this shit to r9k for fuck sakes

The problem is you see aimless consumerism as "fun".
That's what i'm trying to get through.
You should not equate unnecessarily spending more money to fun or better or happiness.

Intentionally paying more money for things you know you could get cheaper because "I can afford it" is moronic.

"I can afford it" is something you say when you take a bad loss on a trade, not something you set out to do just because you can.

Attached: 1565847082017.png (1280x1080, 233K)

500k isn’t enough to retire on

5k/year for health insurance
2k/year for food
1k/year for other insurance like car insurance
10k/year in property taxes
3k/year for other stuff like vidya new computer
3k/year for utilities
so 30k/year for a house and stuff for just you. no family. you can live for like 20 years max off 500k and then youre old without work experience

OP let's have sex

The less money your lifestyle costs, the sooner you make it. So many people want to buy flashy shit. Don't fall into the trap.

Are you talking to me?
I never said nor implied any of these points:
>see aimless consumerism as "fun".
>Intentionally paying more money for things you know you could get cheaper because "I can afford it"

Did you even read my post that I quoted?
I said here that:
> I dress in decade old clothes
> usually eat food from the dollar menu.
Heck, I barely spend over $2000 per month, despite having a six figure annual income.
And I'm like OP, I think I'm also on the train to "making it" because beside my savings and investments from my leftover income, I also have a nest egg of 21 BTC in cold storage (completely separate from my coins on exchange)

All I said was that I occasionally spend on COMFORT. Like a Jow Forums pass (because captchas are a waste of time) or a $4 strawberry. And I see nothing wrong with that, spending enough to enjoy life, and not on just on pointless luxuries.

Fucking US is so fucked up. You actually have to pay for health insurance? Kek

Nice man, that's a great BTC stash, mine isn't there yet even though I could go buy it right now. I really want to but I'm hesitant. Should I round off to 21 BTC?

This is such a bad time to give advice on buying, sorry.
The chart looks like it could either start off the next bull run, or fall to 7k.

Spend some on therapist. You're literally crying about having too much money

I didn't mean the price, I meant how to make the mental jump to making the purchase and actually making yourself push the button. I'm scared to buy more BTC

You're memeing right? I haven't left my apt in 7 weeks.

lol you just blew any chances at that if you actually could have the means to pull it off. keep that kinda stuff to yourself

you didn't say $100 shirt tho you said $4 strawberries was too much and scared you. big deal a lot of people with money are frugal, set aside a budget of what you can spend, take some of it out in cash, and spend it

if i didnt have to buy health insurance id neet it up as a homeless person in my truck and drink avacado oil and whey protein for the rest of my life

Attached: F1135C5C-72A1-4579-AEB6-221D1202671E.jpg (240x240, 11K)

what the fuck are you so scared of tho? You can live just fine off $200k for 6-10 years. Not saying you should buy BTC but buy some clothes or something. If you had no income ld understand but this is stupid

I don't know what to tell you man, you haven't even bought and you're already scared, what more if the price crashes after you buy? People who are most hesitant to buy are the most likely to panic sell if the price goes down after they buy.

Imagine buying now then it crashes to 7k, how would that make you feel?

I personally bought BTC because I believe in it being the strongest money, eventually reaching gold's marketcap, 10 million dollar Bitcoin endgame and all that. You could say I fell for the Bitcoin maximalist propaganda.

But I only put in what I could afford to lose. Not even a fifth of my savings then, so pulling the trigger was a non-issue. I was just lucky to buy it at a much MUCH cheaper price than what the price is now.

Very poor people in America get completely free health insurance what are u talking about.

>you didn't say $100 shirt tho you said $4 strawberries was too much and scared you.
Not me, check the IDs.

Dude I know, Bitcoin is truly the most valuable asset to ever exist and I'm not dumping 100% of my wealth into it? This is the opportunity of a fucking lifetime and I'm pussying out, I know this one is real, why haven't I bought more fucking BTC?

Crypto is dead. If you haven't made it by now, you never will.

Attached: goodbye.jpg (1033x741, 66K)

Nah dude I have about 10 BTC, I just can't get myself to buy more. I will -never- ever sell it under any circumstances, period. I haven't looked at the price for months, but I regret not buying more when it dipped to 3k

10k on rent, you guys are good. You should start to be frugal, i spent 2.2 k on rent.

Attached: 981bc0200effbc42.jpg (1024x768, 72K)

Feels, I hardly have any clothes and the ones I do have don’t really fit. I drive a beater because my credit is shit, I’m having a quarter life crisis because I don’t have anything to show for myself.

I’m starting today to fix that. I traded my Xbox for a laptop. Started throwing resumes and forcing myself to do shit. Depression is a bitch, but at least doing nothing doesn’t get you out of it.

Also, switch to flash frozen strawberries. They’re better than fresh because
1. Fresh fruit rots quickly and loses nutritional value.
2. Not as expensive compared to the volume of the fresh fruit.
3. Lasts longer, and great for smoothies.

You’ll make it dude. You’ll get out of this rut. Don’t quit. :)

That shit is way overrated.

>It's an everyone fell for a larp thread

We still have to pay for health insurance in europe too buddy, it's called taxes. And quite a few people in my country still prefer private insurance anyway.

Therapist and small steps. What are some things on your bucket list?

Truth. It’s a self defeating.

Just strike up a conversation. I built up my confidence after seeing the gains from the gym and made small talk with dudes that were bigger than me. I saw a dude with some nice ranger panties & asked him where he get them. After awhile a couple weeks of short convos. We’re now gym partners. Still can’t talk to girls though I’m getting there.

user, you can book my online service that tells you daily that you made it. I call it FLAW-aaS. Feel-Like-A-Winner as a Service.

user, you're depressed because the thrill of developing yourself or learning something new is gone. And now you're stuck.
You've spent a lot of time specializing yourself in order to achieve a certain goal/s, and now that it's over, you felt that something in you is wasted or not used to its full potential.

>You actually have to pay for health insurance? Kek
if you get bluffed into it yeah. emergency rooms legally have to treat anyone who shows up

also this. and it doesn't count capital gains. so as a crypto neet you should qualify for all the gibs. i think it's different from state to state but if you're in a blue state you'll get as good or better healthcare than the middle class if you make no money

whilst I haven't really made it, I can tell I am somewhat better off than others in my area...
but yeah I can relate...
I honestly cannot be bothered to buy fancy clothing (except for a couple things from attempts to pull in thots)
I drive a cheap car (not yet crap but eventually it will be I guess)
I agonize over spending more than necessary for something
I don't travel due to crippling anxiety even though deep down I'd want to get out of this place to meet new people
I educate myself; hell I made a mental list last night to try to improve my mood of all the shit I know about and can discuss and have experience in but nobody gives a shit because everybody is out there talking about how to get wasted more efficiently and how to get in the local town bike's pants... AND that is all they seem to ever think about...

In the meantime I am very lonely, I struggle to make friends (forget girlfriends); the most common feedback regarding this is "you are not fun to be around." Sorry, but I don't consider smashing myself with booze every single evening a good time.

So basically, have money, have skills, interests, no frens, crippling anxiety... I feel so stuck

>Every year I make more money
>Still have the impulse when I first consider buying something that was a luxury item when I was poor (grapes, meat, cheese) that I cannot afford it
>Money just accumulates in my various end destination flows
>Almost never can get myself to spend anything

Buy hey I decided to fly to the netherlands in February to fuck whores. I'm proud I got myself to commit the money for the trip, simply because it contradicts my nature to spend.

larping

That's how I am too user. I was dirt poor sleeping on a floor of an unheated house for a few years 5 years ago. Since then I landed a great job and worked my way up quickly.

Making more than I know what to do with so my investments and savings grow while my soul keeps dying. I can't bring myself to buy jeans over 50c at the thrift store or food beyond cheap basics. I don't buy video games anymore or concert tickets like I used to.

I'm fantasizing about spending money on a crazy trip like you described though so how was it? Worth it?

then you haven't rly made it yet
invest everything again in uDoo and feel the real 'i made it' vibe

It's this upcoming February. My hopes aren't really that high, but I don't care for the idea of travel to see things. So I asked where is there a place I can go and (legally, because fuck getting dicked by the government) do things I can't do here.

And the only thing I came up with that is of any interest is fucking whores. My flight and four nights at a very nice hotel were only $1100. I figure I should be good with $1400 spending money to make it a 2.5k trip all things accounted for, which really isn't much.

I have a friend who did something similar, although he did a more lavish version and he enjoyed it. I mean at some point you have to do something, and this sort of a trip gets much worse with age - as sex just isn't as easy or fun as time goes on.
