I don't share my softwares but I can explain how it works.
It placeing random size random color triangles on the canvas on random places. If the canvas looks better with that triangle, then he keeps it. If it looks worst, then he don't keeps it.
When he can't improve tha canvas any more, then spits the canvas on two smaller canvases, and starts placeing random triangles again, but this time smaller triangles. Later it will split the two canvases on even smaller canvases, and place smaller triangles.

It's calculating it with substraction.
For example let's have an original canvas with one pixel. The value of this pixel is 5.
We generate two random canvases with one pixel: 3 and 6.
Which looks more like the original value, 3 or 6.
We calculating it with substraction.
5-3=2
6-5=1
1 is smaller then 2, so 6 is closer to 5.
The canvas with pixel 6 look more like the original canvas.
The canvas with pixel 6 is better then the canvas with pixel 3.

In informatics there is always something to improve. What can go wrong is limited by the hardware. Hardwares are too slow nowadays to create human level artificial intelligents.
