I have to interact with LGBT people all the time.. for older ones, the reason is that they have determined that unless you are 100% LGBT supporting they assume your not worth any effort. They can do this because they are very accustomed to being shunned and ostracised by family and friends...

Well I myself am and as I've personally had to keep myself from being a total ass a few times and can say that it's sort of an odd situation of power craze.
