Whites are only 8% of the population, but 90% are concentrated in cities. This means while whites are outnumbered 99 to 1 in the far rural regions in major cities like Pretoria they make up as much as 50% of the population. In the event of war the food supply chain will break down. Whites of course have much of the higher educated intelligentsia and military commanders on their side as they are whites as well and being outnumbered yet only split into Anglo and Afrikaner the whites will find it easy to generally unite.
Most likely the blacks will instead invade stores and supermarkets, grabbing whatever they can and occupying outlying homes like we've seen with the land riots in the Western Cape. However anywhere they meet significant resistance the blacks will likely avoid simply because there are softer targets for them to hit. In the long term starvation, lack of medical care and attrition from getting shot by whites defending their parts of the city will lead to large scale death among the blacks and exhaustion of urban goods and foods will likely lead to the blacks- who are only in the cities because of the goods and jobs whites provide them- retreating to the rural areas, eating isolated white people along the way. Then white people just clean up the leftovers and take back their metropolises.
