My guess is the BRRRRTTTTTT will wipe the floor with the F-35.
How much will the A-10 outperform the F-35 in CAS?
considering that the F35 can carry more (by lb) and in more places (number of bombs), its gonna wipe the floor with the A10.
BRRRTTTT is just a meme, its only ever used as a last ditch anyways.
The F-35 it's a scam.
>carry only two bomb
>single engine
>no BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRTT
We will take the A-10 if you don't want them.
...
F-35 will win, it's like 500x more expensive so $$$$$$$
>considering that the F35 can carry more (by lb) and in more places (number of bombs)
is this even remotely true or did you make this up out of whole cloth? I find it extremely hard to believe that a plane supposedly designed to be "stealthy" has more hardpoints than a purpose-built CAS plane that existed before stealth was even a consideration.
A-10s could loiter a lot better than fast air.
And that was about it. I’ve seen the aftermath of an A-10 run and it would have been incredibly effective, if the enemy was a 1970s Soviet motor rifle regiment. As it wasn’t, and it was eight illiterate zealots with light weapons on foot, it was far less effective than HE.
Great for engaging large vehicles and motor columns but for anything precision you need guided HE.
The results will be used as an excuse to piss away more money on the military.
more like BRRAAAAAAAP...mmm yes quite pungent indeed
>discussing this on Jow Forums
>anywhere but Jow Forums
Cue the big-gun-obsessed college kids and "Aero Engineers" that don't have a degree yet
your crap air force probably only has prop planes.
the F-35 just flew over Iran undetected.
>is this even remotely true or did you make this up out of whole cloth? I find it extremely hard to believe that a plane supposedly designed to be "stealthy" has more hardpoints than a purpose-built CAS plane
There's a thing called wikipedia that may help you here
A10 in Afghanistan rarely did bombing runs because they didn’t want to annihilate someone’s house or a friendly Infantry unit instead of a Talbian PKM team. They had 30mm in the open and that was considered the best option by the ground.
the sophisticated armament and stealth capabilities would make the F35 a superior CAS plane in terms of modern conventional warfare. The A10s are loud and slow to they would be easy prey for modern SAM defenses. The A10 would be better suited for pounding the ragheads into the sand but nothing beyond that.
There are hardpoints on the wings for mounting pylons for external weapons.
CAS would only be performed in a permissive environment. Meaning low AA threat.
they learn everything they know about aviation from YT videos. go to a page with a Russian fighter and you will see it all. It's not even funny it's so sad with all the 17 year old aviation experts.
>two
lul
>Implying that the Air Force brass wouldn't rig the outcome form the start
>Implying the military industrial complex does not perpetually hinge upon the successively disastrous and occasionally successful technological adventures
>Implying that the Air Force actually wants to save money by delivering something that saves lives and works vs something that pleases politicians and keeps them in power
>Implying that cost savings (A10) vs increased baseline budgeting mechanisms (F23) would ever apply
>Implying that the US cannot print enough debt to forever fuel such ventures
>Implying that the American taxpaying public even has an iota of a clue what they are paying for or what alternatives exist
Video very much related F15s vs Indian Air Force exercise and one US General's comments

>two again
>Stealth
Good luck loading it up with those stubbie little manlet wings champ
that's air to air not CAS
Wikipedia, Abbo
rather, F35 not 23.
Wrong, fake news. Depends on the target. 1 Iraq trip, 4 to Afghanistan. AMA.
if this is a competition against the A10, then stealth doesn't matter.
I know what i am talking about Cletus. F-35 is going to be another Starfighter.
This.
What a fucking joke, suits at lockmart need to be tried for treason at this point.
>And as you can see gentlemen, the F-35 is far and away more capable a ground attack aircraft than the A-10 ever was.
>Yes yes, very good, but what is the cost per hour to operate an F-35 versus the A-10?
>We're glad you asked. Picture the cost to operate the F-35 as the Sun, and the cost to operate the A-10 as Mercury.
Why waste all that money making it stealthy when stealth isn't going to be used. Build a purpose built CAS.
I'm sure the Maverick missiles pretty precise.
F35 has the same GAU-8 Avenger 30 mm canon thats why they are comparing them for close ground support retards...ffs
Because ever since the 1950s the US Air force has had a hard on about a multirole fighter that can do everything.
the brrrrrt plane is only useful if you have total air superiority and have destroyed most of the significant sam systems.
if not, the thing will get blown the fuck out before it can hope to do anything, which is the opposite of the f-35
you're better off with something like this if you just want to bully jihadists, or something stupid
What if I told you 90% of the F-35's budget went to black budget projects like Aurora?
no it doesn't
if its a permissive environment (which it has to be if the A10 is involved), there will be tankers on station. plus, the f35 will get there faster, not to mention the numerous UI and sensor improvements.
cheaper to build one do-it-all plane, than to have multiple planes like we did in the past.
They share the same GAU-8 Avenger 30 mm canon thats why they are comparing them for close ground support retards!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
>I know what i am talking about
>Good luck loading it up with those stubbie little manlet wings
Contradiction detected
>America
>won't have total air superiority
Our entire military doctrine is built on air superiority. We wouldn't lose it. A-10 is fine.
The A-10's GAU-8 allows it to stay in the fight and act as CAS long after it has expended its bombs and missiles. The F-35 has no such ability to do so.
The A-10 also has the unique ability to fly low-and-slow, allowing an experienced pilot plenty of time to annihilate whatever target they want to. The F-35 cannot do this in the same capacity, therefore limiting its CAS capabilities.
Furthermore, the fact that the A-10 is an armored bathtub that can fly with one wing missing means that it can absorb almost any kind of ground fire that can possibly be thrown at it, while the F-35 is already notorious for going haywire with even minor damages, combined with the fact that it's an extremely delicate VTOL aircraft means that it can't absorb nearly as much ground fire as the A-10 can.
F-35 is a shitty plane designed by bureaucrats to act as a replacement for every aircraft there is. It excels at nothing.
>maintenance costs
Waaaah? Now why are you trying to muddy the waters with facts?
An a-10 dipped its wings in front of our fighting position after destroying a rocket artillery system for us. That moment felt better than getting married or having kids.
cannon is virtually irrelevant outside of COIN on poor bumpkins with no AA heavier than a GPMG
You don't even have a clue.
Excuse me the 35 has a GAU 25 mm. My point is still the same. F35 is a multi role fighter if it can perform like the A10 then there you go.
>suits at lockmart need to be tried for treason at this point.
No.
The F-35 has a GAU-22 and it's a 25mm
>wipe the floor with the F-35
Don't get your hopes up.
If the Air Force wants new toys they'll stack the deck behind the scenes any way they can.
Expect the A-10 Pilot to be the most cross eyed son of a bitch to ever take to the skies.
and the russian doctrine is basically built around sams of different shapes and sizes
good luck trying to survive in an a10 without a million hills protecting you, because those are your only useful defence
I see you.
I don't think it ended up cheaper the F-35 budget blowout was quite a disgraceful but correct me if i am wrong. F-22 is a beautiful machine things should have stopped there.
>Something designed to be a jack of all trades vs something designed to be a master of one specific thing
Isn't the sound alone of the A-10's gun enough to send the hadjis into hiding?
I agree. there are trying to package the F35 with everything including the kitchen sink. So all we need is 1 plane.
Well the A10 was a obsolete already at its introduction. Essentially a late stuka
>A10
>F35
Stop bragging about the memes and get Super Tucanos already
darpa has been droning the A-10 since 08.
I corrected myself but my point still stands god damnit
So it's basically a 2 trillion dollar peanut shooter. Money well spent if I've ever seen it.
>something a lockmart suit would say
its not the same thing. 1174 rounds vs. 200
Maybe you shouldn't talk out of your ass.
it only takes 5-10 years to completely lose your technological and numbers advantage.
when china turns their military "on", the build up will be fast, I personally think the US jumped the gun, Now China has the bar to base their developments on, the J20 was just the start, their next one will be much better.
>permissive environment
Faggot detected. Welp, since you don't know anything about military doctrine and terms, why don't you fuck off back to Lockheed?
Fuck off Leaf keep buying our old used 4th gens.
Hello.
>The A10 would be better suited for pounding the ragheads into the sand but nothing beyond that.
That is the only mission out there for the next 50 years.
The A-10 is obsolete now due to SAM's, the F-35 as proven by it's latest undetected boondoggle into Iran is not because of it's stealth,
And for all the trolls trying to derail the question with the gun, the gun is useless, its a vestige of vietnam when precision tech was in its infancy.
BRRRTTT is a meme.
>he thinks we don't have counters to this
The primary issue is that the US has grown complacent since the USSR fell. China is a meme imo, but if they do rise as a challenging power then it's only a good thing for the US. It would force us to get back on the ball.
>undetected boondoggle
Yea ask israel what happens when an s-200 shot up their new toy.
Yet it still is used in actual combat.
Wasn't an F-35 damaged by a Syrian SAM a few months back?
>He believes an Israeli mouthpiece
They're smart enough to not stick around for the brrrrt. Just the whine of those high bypass turbofans passing overhead is enough to make them scurry.
The F35 fucked Russias development of the su-57 because the Indians stopped funding its development and went with the 35.
.
China built several air craft carriers and is gearing up for more naval warfare.
The "paper tiger" isn't very "paper" anymore. With more force projection abilities, China's military is just a plain "Tiger"
>Well the A10 was a obsolete already at its introduction. Essentially a late stuka
The Stuka is one of the most famous planes in history. Enemy soldiers crapped in their pants when they heard it attacking. Same with the Brrrrrtttt.
The A-10 is a lot more sexy, also it puts the fear of God into the goyim.
>rotary cannon
>200 rounds
One trigger pull, and this thing will be empty. Why even bother putting a gun in it?
not in the 21st century.
last gun kill was USAF A-10 that downed an Iraqi Mi-8 helicopter on 15 Feb 1991.
I would shit my pants at either
Where you getting this copy pasta Schlomo?
>He thinks China can turn their military "on"
Have you ever been to China? Their military is a fucking joke and I don't even need to see more than their military police to know that.
The average american fatty with mosin could kill 10 chinks before they stopped salvaging their guns for parts to sells and start running away
The a10 wasted many Pakis in Afghanistan....recently
replied to wrong person (myself), the last fighter - fighter gun kill was by the israel air force in the 80s.
You need more than one tool in a toolbox. The F35 is so broad it can't possible be the best at any single task.
>precision tech
A hellfire still has a 600 meter no go zone, faggot. The gun is used because it's the only mission kill capable weapon that can operate danger close.
But please, start killing blues with 'precision' weapons
>China built several air craft carriers

Rumours
SAM always an issue, use fast jets for SAM to create air superiority, mop up infantry with the A10.
>he thinks we don't have counters to this
whatever fancy shit you think you have won't be enough to cover everything, as all russian armoured and motorised units travel with smaller mobile sams that can effortlessly destroy a bunch of a10s
I was in GW1 faggot, and the A10 did gun runs and cluster bombs on Iraqi defensive positions. I seen it with my own eyes.
t. 19D.
What's it like to lose a war against a third world country?
As long as it's better than at everything than the enemies most specialized planes are it's going to be a winner.
Are you still mad that I called you a stupid fuck who talks out of his ass?
All I'm saying there is a very real reason Trump bragged about spending $718b on the US military this year.
To ignore what's happening in the pacific would be stupid.
There hasn't been air combat more than a skirmish since then either.
I thought China only has two carriers; one they bought from the Soviets and another they made themselves (that has a fucking ramp lol)
China would never be able to challenge the US navy unless we were close enough to their shore for their anti-ship missiles to be effective. I don't have the numbers on me but IIRC most of China's numbers are civilian ships that could be refitted for military use. Also a sizable submarine fleet.
Can China afford 12~ carrier groups like the US can? Do they have combat experience or many years of training like our navy does? If not, it's not a big deal.
To funnel more billions directly to lockmart for no tangible gain.
Yeah lets just stop advancing military aviation, right?
