There are two ways to pass a constitutional amendment one is first passing with a super majority through both houses of Congress and then later sent to the various states for ratification. The other is to bypass Federal congress completely and just do a constitutional convention of the states. Which requires 3/4 or 38 of the states to approve republicans are basically only 5 states away from being able to call a constitutional convention of states on their own and amend the constitution.

How would this be accomplished without also violating the 4th amendment rights of literally every citizen? In other countries there is no protection against illegal search so it's not an issue. If you want to get the guns out of the hands of inner city youths there is exactly one way to accomplish that: door to door house searches, literally tossing houses like jail cells searching for guns.

Any time I hear some retard advocate for this shit then I ask them this question. Nobody has a good answer for it. They're certainly not willing to advocate door-to-door weapons sweeps because muh civil rights. They don't see the interconnections between the 2nd and 4th amendments and won't acknowledge that you can't enforce a blanket gun ban without indefinitely suspending everyone's 4th amendment rights, particularly the 4th amendment rights of the ghetto folk who they care so deeply for.

Repubs have a SUPERMAJORITY in House and a huge majority in senate. You need 2/3 in both to even PASS a constitutional convention onto the states, which takes 38 states (in 2016, Trump won 35) to agree.

Repubs would have to lose 5 seats in congress, 2 seats in senate, and 3 states EVERY 4 YEARS for 50 years to even come close to this.
