I mean it certainly explain why I see Buzzfeed, Vox, HuffPost, NowThis and other far left outlets perpetually on my timeline. I certainly don't click the like button on those videos. I would definitely say it has more to do with the political affiliation of most of my friends that post the most. Being a grad student at a very large (and liberal) university certainly influences this too I would imagine (given the social circles on Facebook).
