The Army was pretty cool. You get to jump out of planes and shoot bad ass weapons and kill haji. There’s also lots of whores and hard drugs if that’s your thing

Best part is definitely learning self pride and real teamwork in highly stressful situations - at least for me it was. I came from a real shitty background

Idk that much specific about the marines really - I think on average they tend to enjoy it more than most because of a really strong espirit de corps (which really suits some people but not everyone).

The phase 1 training is pretty serious, so be as fit as possible when you get there and be prepared for it to be pretty grim in places.

Don’t chat about it to everyone because you’ll look like a walty cunt, but def consider special forces - marines is a really good background for it, and you don’t need to be superhuman - it is achievable with the the right mindset and prepararion. About 10% of the armed forces, including SF, continually do really fucking cool stuff (most of which doesn’t make the news); the other 90% has been bored since it left Afghanistan.

finished the service a couple of years ago , F16 technician .
best part of the job is preflight checks wen the plane is loaded up with bombs, you know you're gonna see something on the news a few hours later about some hamasnicks getting blasted (sadly they almost never did syria\lebanon missions from my base) .

worst part of the job is new pilots that exceed the training performance envelope for the plane so the technicians have to open and take apart the entire fucking plane and check everything , like 16h nonstop work for the entire team .

desu it felt kinda shitty at the beginning but i ended up loving the army , it builds work ethic,respect,discipline and the determination to get the job done no matter what like no other place . every time i have an interaction with an army dodger \ foreigner that never served i realize how good we have it here . americans my age (atleast the spoiled rich jew ones that did taglit) were spoiled immature shit's i'd never employ compared to my fellow soldiers .

Yes, in 2016 I started as conscript in Kestutis, now I already served for 1 year in KASP. If you want to serve for money- go to PKT. If you want to serve because you like it, but dont want to be full time soldier- go to KASP. Here you are nore free to make decisions for yourself ( how much equipment you need, how you want to attack and etc.). There are some draft dodgers here, but in every company you will find fit and able people who have high devotion to mission like SOP member would have.

Drill, marching, cardio (I enjoy cardio but it's the reason infantry soldiers either get MD'd or transfer before they're in their mid 30's). Also the daft courses you need to go on for promotion, it's mostly HR bullshit with the occasional essay thrown in. Very little of it actually helps you shoot people or not be shot. It's fine if you're a WO1 where HR is basically your trade but for people on the ground it's pointless.

Travelling (I have no SO or kids so it's nothing but upsides to me), mates for life, the best career you can choose if you want to continually learn new skills.

I joined the rifles in my mid 20s and even that is probably too old for the infantry, my legs are about shot and I'm looking to transfer elsewhere before I get MD'd.

Working out helps a lot, set unrealistic goals and then accomplish them. Like go from doing 5 pull ups to starting every workout with a warm up of 10 sets of 20. Basic shit like that and embracing the fact that you CHOSE to do this shit so you might as well make the most of it. Plus you're surrounded by your buddies who are suffering just like you. Plus you get paid to basically chill with your friends, shoot guns, and drink until your liver is liquid.
