Unite the right failed because it was a setup by the city and state government. The whole thing imploded because the government sabotaged it. It had nothing to do with too many factions. That said, Hitler was right about the problem of "big tent" movements but even still the alt-right is no where near that point. Hitler was talking about Ernst Rohm's faction who he was initially closely allied with. They didn't reach a critical conflict point until the Nazis were established and in power. We don't even have true opposing factions yet. The alt-right is too vauge and unorganized for that to happen. The right wing infighting is more like drama and petty ideological bickering. This all serves a purpose because eventually proto-factions will emerge and we'll probably see two major factions war with eachother. But right now there isnt even enough power available to fight over. Theres not even clear enough ideological or strategic differences that are worth destroying each other over. The alt-right in its current state is a loose political sentiment that is in the very, very early stages of organizing and articulating a manifesto. This all will be hashed out in the coming years.
