> Former commie president Lula on trial in Brazilian Supreme Court on corruption charges > Is currently front runner for Presidential elections in October > country deeply polarized between anti-Lula and pro-Lula sentiment > Brazilian Army generals threaten coup if Lula found not guilty
LOL! Sorry, folks, but that's a grave exaggeration. It's just business as usual here in hueland. Not even Collor's impeachment back in 92 amounted to that much, and you're getting your hopes up by a former president and possible candidate going to jail?
Camden Flores
>> Lula >> Is currently front runner for Presidential elections in October
The pools agencies (DataFolha, Ibope), media (Globo) and some artists are extremely biased towards PT (workers party); hence the allegedly popularity... meanwhile, Lula and his team are being thrown rotten eggs while campaigning on streets.
At the same time these very opinion makers deliberately says nothing about the latest political phenomena: Mr Jair Bolsonaro, which is the real leader on presidential campaign, with 37% of votes in some states according to Parana Pesquisas (a less biased research company).
The voting system is rigged: Smartmatic runs elections not only in Brazil but also in other shitholes as well like Venezuela, Cuba and Zimbabwe.
Honest question, fellow anões: is this coup talk actually a possibility, or is it just wishfull thinking? I stoped caring/following the news a decade ago, but from RL, I just don't see it happening. My perception may be biased, though, living in São Paulo and all. People here are very insulated from the rest of the country.
Jace Adams
>is this coup talk actually a possibility, or is it just wishfull thinking? Honestly, I doubt the military taking power ever again; however, the stage is clearly being set, something will happen until tomorrow, and definitely until 2019.
And for the common good.
Isaac Baker
Elections are rigged everywhere, even here in the good old U.S.A.
Tomorrow (april 4) the Supreme Court will judge about an Habeas Corpus for preventing Lula going to jail.
Chances are that this HC will not be authorized, Lula will leave Brazil to avoid prison and Bolsonaro win elections in the 1st turn.
Daniel Watson
I also doubt it, but I also didn't believe at first that Dilma was gonna be impeached, so don't ask me for any lottery numbers.
True. Our next election cycle is shaping up to be just like your last one, by the way: a weird shit fest with two terrible options dividing the country even more into left vs right.
Cameron Scott
No other options besides him?
Nathaniel Thompson
im guessing it ends 7-1
Grayson Gray
Maybe Joao Amoedo, former Itau VP and Citybank VP. But Bolsonaro is clearly a poor patriot, whilst Amoedo seems to play by (((their))) rules
Justin Brooks
Well, that's shitty. I was thinking of moving out anyway, this puts things on the fast track.
David Wilson
Our based military will not let commies get out this time. Also > Police state dystopia > communist dystopya anyway
It's actually very realistic. > multiple generals supporting each other > federal police is red pilled > military police is red pilled > most of the population is already red pilled > commies and libshits won't do shit since they're cowards That's the perfect scenario for a coup d'etat, and I have no doubts they have the balls to do it since Lula admittedly a literal commie.
also, some general posted on twitter "waiting for your orders" to General Mourão.
>also, some general posted on twitter "waiting for your orders" to General Mourão. Fuck, that's ultra cringey... Anyway, if that really happens, I'm leaving yesterday.
Xavier Sullivan
>Anyway, if that really happens, I'm leaving yesterday if you're a commie or liberal, please do it!
Neither, anão. I'm just really not keen on a military dictatorship curtailing my freedom. For the record, I'm actually a public servant, and if you think that a military dictatorship is going to make things better, let me tell you the first rule of anything in the government: inefficiency.
Oliver Taylor
welp time for another 20mil refugees and migrants i guess
Liam Phillips
Most will probably just migrate to neighboring countries, if we're being real. Sorry, Argentina. And Chile. And Paraguay. And Uruguay...
Aaron Cox
Wish you guys the best of luck. You South Americans in general seem to be having a really rough time with that corruption, socialism, and oil. Hope you get that all sorted soon.
>I'm actually a public servant and you're talking about leaving? lmao, where will you go? Sounds like all those american liberals saying "I'm moving to Canada if Trump wins"
Don't see the parallel, but okay. Planning on going to asia, it's a way better place to start my business. I plan on leaving anyway, just gonna leave early if the whole thing actually comes to the army taking over. My current job has nothing to do with it, but working inside the government I got to see what a bureaucratic, inefficient mess the whole thing inherently is.
Jacob Sullivan
> public servant > going to start his business do you even have any experience at all? If so, why don't you leave already? Working for the government is the worst thing you could have done user!
Had to pay for college, currently on an extended sick leave (1yr and counting). Believe me, I'd love to quit my job, but I can't work right now, and since they're paying me anyway, I stay home and work on my business plan, study, talk to suppliers and contractors, etc. Once my doctor gives me a clean bill, I'll quit and stard my real career But thanks for the support, dude.
You gotta love central and South American politics. They’re a real life version of British comedic dystopia

The Middle East is getting boring because of every other countries will be the same as a result. I really hope of troops moving to the Southern border, a coup d'etat in Brazil, or a Venezuelan invasion of Guyana.
