Those criticisms would involve the breakdown of justifiable vs unjustifiable homicides, or focus on the underreported nature of unjustifiable homicides. Furthermore none of those figures would give any indication that firearms are more likely to be used in defensive situation (i.e. including as a deterrent, which is underreported for obvious reasons) by a factor of 27 to 1. Regardless, the real figure for Europe would be an average of those figures, not an aggregate.
