When I was in school and we had award ceremonies, the only award the black kids ever won was for perfect attendance. That's because their single mothers were working three jobs and forced them to go to school come hell or high water so they'd know someone was watching them for 8 hours of the day.
As far as suspension, that was mostly white kids who got suspended for shit like setting the bathroom on fire, the black kids who REALLY fucked up got sent to something called ABLE which I've since forgotten the meaning of .... Academic and Behavioral something or other. They'd get sent there for a week or two and come back to class fucking silent. We never really knew what they did with the kids at ABLE, but they must have done something because those kids who went and came back never fucked up again.

I've substitute taught a lot in my hometown. All white. Very few blacks. Never had a problem at all with whites in middle/high school. The occasional fuck up obviously. I moved to a bigger city where there's more blacks to look for more job opportunities in my field (not teaching).
