to answer your question: only corrupt people chase power.
power corrupts, but you can be powerful and not be corrupt
power doesn't corrupt.
lack of discipline corrupts.
The most disciplined often pursue the least power, while the least disciplined often pursue the most power.
When the outliers meet, you find your messiahs.
>Also i had some issues with the grammar of this question
You wrote your question correctly, demonstrating what an experienced and educated English speaker would understand of their language. literal 7/10, well beyond what's needed to move to any English speaking majority or to do business with them. Good luck.
example?
My logic here is that corruption IS power in itself, the "playing outside the rulebook" is what makes you build power in the first place, is through corruption, through being special within a system of equals, that one truly wields power over others
In the pic related example, "the ring brings power, but also corrupts" or is it the corruption that brings the power? The only wearer that doesn't degenerate into ultimate corruption by using it is the literal most corrupt being of the middle earth, its also kind of an embodyment of his own soul, therefore corruption and power are linked in a very intimate way
>the "playing outside the rulebook" is what makes you build power in the first place,
you are 100% correct. the value of your face is more than the value of your wallet, it's who you know, not how much you spend.
It's not power that corrupts. It's the thirst for more.
Positions of power attract the easily corrupted.
Im not talking about positions of power, im talking about literal power. Like say you got the president but he is afraid of X guy who doesnt have any institutional position yet he always seems to grow and grow in influence
Power can corrupt, and it usually does. The more absolute the power, the more chance for total corruption. BUT STILL. Even in the dictatorial, Imperialist Roman Empire, there were good emperors like philosopher Marcus Aurelius and Antoninus Pius.
or you could just use the eagles and be done with it overnight . i mean ffs how many gorillions of years did it take gendalf to even find out that its the one ring ? could have gotten rid of it on the day he saw it .
not this shit again, the eagles cant go cause the nazguls and shit, they can only save them cause sauron's already dead at that point, froddo is needed cause he is the most insignificant/underestimated being in the planet
they could have flown at least till gondor though, thats true
Power and corruption walk side by side, having power can corrupt someone, most surely will, the bigger the power the worse, but who would seek such power other than a corrupt? In my opnion what corrupts someone is not power itself, it's not having enough power, wanting more power makes people go to insane levels once they think it's not enough.
Power does not corrupt. Lack of accountability does. Our current systems are designed to hide real power from scrutiny and accountability. Absolute monarchy is the most honest form of government.
To everyone saying only corrupt people seek power, what if you want the power so you can fight sth evil and powerful that is decimating you/your people?
Power is power and corruption is corruption.
So many powerful people that are depressed because of too much power will use corruption to emulate a new life where they have no power.
Many weak people will use corruption to become super powerful and enjoy the power trip.
The more religious you are the more power doesn't corrupt you. You are not interested in power at all.
You want to be as powerless as possible and abandon yourself in the will of the Lord.
Some religious people will use power to expand their religion and power might corrupt their thirst for more power.
Power and corruption are 2 concepts that can be together or apart.
This guy is a good example:
en.wikipedia.org
He was powerful but used that power selflessly to make his country great. Sure some civil liberties got curbed but notice how the ones who complained the most were communists and mudslime extremists who only seek to topple regimes and gain power through the ensuing chaos.
Power corrupts primarily, and the corrupt seek power additionally.
Fuck your dichotomous shit.
>they got 360 eye radar coverage with nazgul interceptors on standby
they could have easily done a diversion and flown in a lone eagle from the south , low below radar detection .
the thing is tolekin intentionally made the eagles retarded or something and only come in the end .
i mean isnt the reason they are in middle earth to spy on sauron or something ?, they literally rescue gendalf from the WTC so they're clearly pro-not-sauron . he could have gone from isengard to the shire and then to mt doom , with a few eagle rest stops and ended the entire war .
are the eagles an only SAR unit ? , i mean we had a SAR unit when i was int he army and IIRC they also shoot the bad guys if they are required to do so .
were eagles just lazy\cowards ?
The reason accountability is necessary is because power corrupts. If power did not corrupt, there would be no need for accountability.
All governments suffer a recurring problem: Power attracts pathological personalities. It is not that power corrupts but that it is magnetic to the corruptible”
Frank Herbert
Any place you see a concentration of money and power, you're going to see a gathering of corrupt people.
So subvert the shit out of them.

centralized government yes, as in the one ring. regional power, like aragorn's, is ok
Power corrupts.
Corruptions is the abusive use of power.
So constitutions have to put limits, separating executive and legislative.
It's necessary that they originate from separate elections.
Both. Abusing a system can get you far, and being in control of a system can allow you to decide on how far others can go.
True power is self control.
Corruption requires at least to some degree a lack of self control.
To this end, ego corrupts. Every time.
sauron knew they were going to try destroy the ring, he had the place secured
also they couldnt have pulled a distraction cause at the beginning it was just them 9, the elves didnt wanna engage, rohan king was being poisoned, and gondor king was blackpilled af, they had to fix everyone in the way to get help
The real question is... can you set your conscience aside to achieve “success”. Because it’s not possible to have a clear conscience and succeed... have your cake or eat it...
This is the real brainwashing tool. Is your conscience real? If not, succeed... if it is, be a slave to it.
There is no such thing as "corruption", power just changes your brain and makes you a different species than cattle.
'Spics out!
Depends what you mean by succeed.
Making it to a long life, passing on information and knowledge or preserving such knowledge or history, to me, is success. It's something the species can build off of, even if a little, and building/creating is our greatest gift.
To that end, a monk without much in the way of property and no children, succeeds by carrying on his teachings and values like discipline, knowledge, and work. And he only has to shit on himself to get there. NO ONE gets there without shitting on themselves in the end either.
You need not be an asshole to succeed.
Power "is" corruption. Different people respond to corruption in different ways. Some people are completely destroyed by it, others are almost immune to it.
You just described the justification of being true to your conscience... not that there is anything wrong with that...
Just saying...
if you want money and power... you can’t get there from the path of conscience. The more you chip away at your conscience the closer you can get to money and power.
>is it okay to say "is a b?"?
>Does power cause those who wield it to inevitably become corrupt, or is the corruption itself the 'power' which is being wield?
This is now a roll thread.
But what IS "power"?
I would say the best definition of power, as it relates to a man, is the ability to survive and thrive while succeeding. A gun for example can increase your power by enabling you a better defense against predators. Money can be power by enabling better survival odds. Discipline is power, as it allows you to become aware, vigilant, and stay under control.
Ego, it seems, is the greatest cause of the fall of men. Ego is the corrupter, and inflated ego comes with a lack of self control. This is why being anonymous here is better for you as a poster. It keeps your ego in check.
Humans are shit, there's your answer.
Are gauchos competing with straya cunts and leafs in shitposting? Is this a thing now?
Nom de Dieu de putain de bordel de merde de saloperie de conard d'encule de ta mere
Power in it’s base form is... walking into a room and all the pussy gets wet. People can sense power, they like it... money is a shortcut to power..
>Does power corrupt or is corruption power?
The Jew will tell you that power corrupts to keep you from power.
"Power" is the ability to act, unimpeded.
roll
Devil always wants something in return?
>Does power corrupt or is corruption power?
Neither really. It all comes down to what type of person you truly are and if you stick to your convincing. That being said, if you have or gain power, you'd best be prepared to crack some skulls along the way because even if you are completely selfless in your goals, selfish and power hungry fuckers will be gunning to ruin everything. You can't keep your hands clean and talking with those people never helps.
*convictions
Power attracts corrupt people
>"Power" is the ability to act, unimpeded.
No such thing exists.
That's not power. That's ego stroking. And it ends the same way every time. An empty life. No genuine accomplishments.
Nobody remembers Aristotle or Diogenes(two vastly different men) for their chad status. Or for acting with impunity.
what is the ego?
Power opens doors, some good and many more bad.
People decide which ones they walk through.
Also the people who tend to seek power tend to be narcissists. they did a study on it
You may not like it but this is what peak power looks like and it doesn't corrupt.
I’ve been on the path that matches your thinking... unless you are a savant sage, the path leads to a dead end... millions of reasons can be crafted to justify the path, like a mental fractal.
The other path might seem empty, bad, dirty, corrupt, etc.. soulless. But the path of compromised convictions is the way to money, family, power, status... it’s a bumpy ride.
I look at power like this.
>"His master replied, 'Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!'
A crack addict is a morally corrupt person, if you gave him a million dollars what would he use it for?
Most likely crack, and end up dying of an overdose.
If you gave a million dollars to a small businesses owner what would he use it on? Probably to build his business larger.
So what I'm trying to say is, if money is power, and you are given a lot of power when you couldn't handle the power you had when you were not very powerful then you definitely won't know how to use the power for good.
You will most likely be consumed by the power and driven mad.
If you want to be able to control a lot of power when it is given to you, you must first gain control of the power to do evil you already have or it will just grow proportional to your power.
corruption is an illusion. it is only seen by the envious people who are not getting the power.
