I realized this nearly immediately. The give away was that they say to "be the best you that you can be", but then say "not like that. you have to do it like [some traits]". However, this is never really defined.
This is why "the left" is really just the Catholic Church. It is obvious the Protestants are not in charge because they attempt to comply with a given standard. The arbitrary-rule nature of the left is associated with Catholicism.
