I've been saying this since the late '90s. The EU is the new USSR. Nobody agreed until 3 or 4 years ago. Now people ask me all kinds of questions about European politics. Annoying as fuck because I don't care about most of it. I have to have a little knowledge on the subject just to keep them thinking I'm a political genius so I can sway their votes for our politics.
