How is based Orbán and right-wing Jobbik expected to do? Are Hungarians voting pragmatically or is there a protest spirit in the air?

Jobbik NORMALIZES right ideologies, Fidesz (because it's not genuine) takes it to far and turns people away from being anti-migration, you mong (well at least the ones with half a brain)

Pragmatic and protest voting are the same in this case since Orban has just as many disadvantages as advantages, and Jobbik is a similar alternative, but even more conservative and clear of corruption yet.

It is possible to make the argument that their “pro-hungaria” position has always been at the center of their platform. In some ways it is the world that views nationalism different than in the past - remember immediately following the collapse of the Soviet system nationalism was still viewed as complementary to the liberal West’s worldview.

So yes, Fidesz has changed. They’ve grown plump, more rhetorical, more entrenched and corrupt. But these changes are the result of their maneuvering, which in some ways, has been necessary to continue their nationalist program.

I argued that jobbik's move is as fake as fidesz's, then you had to come and demonstrate your illiteracy for everyone to see.

What is at stake in this election? The future of the hungarian people, the EU, or economic policies? It's hard to tell, but it seems you can't have it all most of the times. Getting a nationalist leader who's supposedly backed by a corrupt party, or some cucked guy who promises he's gonna improve other things but is probably going suck the EU's cock along the way. Hard choice to make.

well, I' going to vote for the candidate who has the best chance to win against fidesz, but I don't know who to vote for on list. I'm voting Jobbik, and most of my friends vote Jobbik or LMP, hell, even my gf's hardcore Fidesz-fan parents will vote "someone different" (they didn't want to tell).

You know, usually there is a swing in every 8 years, just like any other country, but right now the opposition is not one party, but like 4-5. The "big opposition party" died in 2010, and they are small now, which is good because fuck them, but because there is no "clear opposition vote" for the smaller-minded people, its a tricky situation. Kinda imagine if the Republicans would be destroyes after an election, and several parties would take its place, and because the Dems would always have like 30-40% support, and would stay in power.

In the last 8 year, Orban proved that he is not much better than the other party, and he had one singe good deed (the border fence), which wasn't even his idea first, but Jobbik's - people had enough of his corruption and manipulation, so I hope today he at least loses the 50% seat in the Parlament.

jobbik wants to keep the religious/ethics education in schools, despite it being an obvious christian plot to force more people into play-acting christian (your school transcript shows whether you went to religious ideology class or just wasted your time, think of the implications if the commies made participation in ideological education elective). so no.

You can choose to study ethics, nothing is forced. My son is in HS now and I've heard they learn about philosophers and ethical questions, which in my opinion make it one of the best subjects.
