This is the correct approach unless you are crazy and don't care if you die or not. It's more important you can pack and carry food and water than bullets. I have a Wax canvas bag, good boots, durable but plain looking clothes, PTR91, a dozen mags of .308, and my lucky SAA revolver. I can camp, hunt, collect water, preserve food, defend myself, and meet up with like minded people/militias if shit goes down.

I mean, that's kinda how I see it. The AR would be for protecting where I'm bugging in at/real fighting, etc. Regular day-to-day stuff, way better off greymanning it and CCing a pistol...and mayyyybe toting around a common-looking hunting rifle or shotgun.
Either way I just love my 94 and would love to fuddperate with it.

A good 30-30 is really useful for a low-maintenance hunting rifle, which you'll need probably far more often than shooting belligerents. Eating when riots destroy the grocery stores and drinking clean water when the faucets stop working are your priorities.

I have a few different load-bearing setups and a plate carrier. I'm still debating whether I'm going to actually get plates for it or not...my time in the Army fucked my back and knees. It's not like I'll be much good running around anyways, but I'm kind of thinking that I'd rather take what little mobility I still have over extra weight potentially injuring me.
