The following story details recent events in the words of someone who isn't me:
Apparently, I was driving a little too fast on the way to work a few months back. 27 in a 25mph zone - I always carefully observe the limit, so either the speed camera was wrong, or my old vehicle wasn't as calibrated as it used to be. Either way, this automated system had apparently proven without a reason of a doubt, that I was violating the law.
Fast forward a bit later in time, I am driving to pick up some groceries, then soon spotted by a squad car who had run my details. After pulling over, I am told to get out of the car and am arrested - my vehicle thoroughly tossed and left abandoned on the road. In handcuffs, I am brought to a "transfer point", another squad car from the county the speed camera was in pulled up. I am groped head to toe and searched again, being told I have a warrant for my arrest, then stuffed into the back of the second car. In a walled off plastic shell in the back, I ask for the location of the seat-belt, I am re-assured that I shouldn't worry about it as the officer zooms in and out of traffic above the limit,
We reach the jail in the county of the supposed violation, and I am booked into the jail. I wait for 5 hours on a metal slab bolted to a wall with 14 others. The 5 hours were spent waiting for my phonecall. After attempting to place a call to someone more than 30 times, in my alotted 10 minutes of time, it was unsuccessful. Later I am told by this person, they tried to accept the call, but for some reason it kept dropping. To everyone who knew me, I was essentially gone without a trace for the next 12 hours.
2 hours later, someone angrily shouts my last name, processesing for entry into the main holding is next. I am first passed through a full body scanner, then told to strip all my clothes, take a shower, and dress in bright yellow scrubs and orange sandals. Everyone and myself, are handcuffed in pairs and stuffed into a transport van.
