It seems like the overwhelming majority of American Jews are liberal and vote Democrat. Why is this so? Conversely, many Jews in Israel are conservative, like Netanyahu, and support things like border walls and traditional values. I cannot ignore the strong correlation between being an American Jew and being a Democrat, especially because their political tweets are always at the top and dominate Twitter. I guess it's like how most African-Americans vote Democrat. What is the reason(s) for this phenomenon? What I can think of is that most are of Ashkenazi background who escaped Nazi Germany, and so they vote for and promote liberal ideas to avoid another Holocaust or racial persecution. Although, at the same time, those ideas may be against what is taught in Judaism, such as homosexuality. For the record, I like conservative Jews, especially Israelis, so don't get the wrong idea from my asking of what may be a sensitive question, but I have always wondered why American Jews are overwhelmingly Democrats and I would like it if someone could give me an answer.
