Today America is the only superpower. But what will happen in the future? China has this big population and its economy and technological capacity is growing fast. Russia has this big landmass, natural resources. If a war happens in 2100 who would win? So it makes sense for America to try to gain every strategic advantage until it has the power to do so, avoiding at the same time a massive confrontation with China and Russia. This is why we had the crisis in Ukraine, the situation in North Korea, the civil war in Syria. Every country who is an ally of China or Russia is a target for America. And America will try to change the government of these countries with an American "friendly" government.
