They are using the assumption that the lack of 100 explosions means that the majority of missiles were shot down. The problem is that for one, tomahawks would be under radar until just before hitting, meaning only Pantsirs could take them out, and two, that the US would arm 1000 pound warheads when presumably striking a chemical storage facility, thus gassing Damascus.
I can see 100 missiles being used, as the majority would be used as kinetic strikes so Damascus isnt gassed. I do not know why this isnt known, and why everyone here thinks that an air defense system saturated by less than a dozen missiles last week would be capable of shooting down 70% of a 100 missile salvo.
