From what I know, Enki wasn’t God, but a god. There is a celestial creator of all that is enigmatic to the gods themselves. Enki is the creator of humans, but not the creator of the universe. And Enki himself seemed to believe that it was fate or destiny (by “God’s will”) that he create mankind.
Granted, creating humans was no simple task. We were made to have souls, and only a very advanced god could have pulled this off without creating some sort of golem/abomination instead. So Enki is absolutely a god. But is he God? I’m not sure that I know who or what God is, only that it can be known by the force it exerts throughout the cosmos, and by the existence of the soul and the higher planes that the gods learned to navigate.
