Secondary language skills are irrelevant. We have 120 million native German speakers or close to native. Post-Brexit we will have 4 million native English speakers in the EU. Secondary languages can be tought in school, in 15 to 20 years, we can have 50 percent of all Europeans speak German. Spain, Portugal, Italy, Romania, Greece, Belgium, Ireland speak more French than German.

No. German is actually a very reasonable language to learn. There are no weird “sounding rules”, i.e. every single letter you write, you speak. This makes German incredibly easy to learn if you are a visual learner and a lot harder if you are more of an audio focused learner.

German allows you to be a better engineer too, as the language is way more precise than most other languages, especially more than English.

I speak German, English, French, some Italian and some Russian. I also learned Latin. So I can compare and as a lawyer I have also been dealing with double row contracts (mostly English-German, but sometimes also English-French) and no matter what, the German rows are always longer as the choices of words and phrases need to be more precise - often you have to revise the English as well, because at first you drafted things imprecisely without realizing it.
