in a holster you dip. personally I don't like compact 9mms because they do tend to go bang when the trigger is pulled, but they're easy to carry and I'm assuming you're wearing riding gear. a 1911 has a manual safety AND a grip safety, much safer to carry in your waistband or properly in a holster. and if you're really worried, just carry in condition 3 with no round in the chamber. flip the safety off, rack the slide, and you're in business.
