Gamers tend to be one group of people who are almost unanimously right-wing. Yes, you'll find the odd Lefty here and there, but most tend to be more conservative than those who aren't gamers. The only conclusion that I can come to is that these people grew up in a world where meritocracy was at the forefront. It didn't matter who was behind the keyboard, but identity didn't matter AT ALL. If the person was good - they were accepted. If the person was bad - they were rejected. It's a flawless system that caused individuals to strive for excellence or to opt out.

If we are talking about the subset of adults who play video games its a different story. But they are far from " conservative" at least in the american form of the word.
They are mostly male and white so that may at first make it easy to claim it as a conservative dominated hobby, however that's a poor predictor given that most mainstream masculine hobbies are white and male dominated.
They tend to skew younger, more nerdy. Both of which point to a more liberal slant compared to most other masculine hobbies.
They are also mostly consuming media produced by coastal liberals.
They maybe pro meritocracy, but they expect that enforcement from a top down level. They are renowned for their disrespect of copyright laws and constantly form communities to disperse their knowledge and resources for free.
Their previous outsider status caused them to heavily overlap with other outsider communities. Intact being a gamer is a better predictor of being a furry than being a conservative. Being a gamer is more predictive of being a member of the lgbt than being a conservative.
